Frances Cotton, daughter of her father's first marriage, was born about 1573 (her father remarried in 1578, and she was married in 1599). She was living in 1630 when her husband wrote his will and probably died before 16 Apr 1646. She is a descendant, through her paternal grandfather, of Magna Carta barons Richard de Clare, 3rd Earl of Hertford and his son Gilbert de Clare, 4th Earl of Hertford.
