    Eugene V. “Gene” Holman, 88, of Fostoria, passed away January 24, 2016 at ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital. He was born September 23, 1927 in Fostoria to the late Alfred and Isabelle (Goshe) Holman. He married Rosalie H. Cassidy June 9, 1948 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and she survives in Fostoria. Also surviving is a son, Ronald P. (Jane) Holman, Maumee; daughter, Marla (Duane) Boes, Fostoria; seven grandchildren, Matt Holman, Nick, Nate, Andy and Jacob Boes, Brita Holman and Ashley Jones; two great grandchildren, Ryan and Laine Boes. He was also preceded in death by a son, Randall “Randy” Holman; and four brothers, Franklin, Bernard, Donald and Richard Holman. Gene was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, a 1945 graduate of St. Wendelin High School and served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII. He was an appliance repairman at Nye Implement, Fostoria retired in 1989 as a millwright from Honeywell, Fostoria. Visitation is January 26, 2016 from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm at MANN HARE HOENING FUNERAL HOME 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Wednesday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church where a Rosary will be prayed at 10 am. Fr. Todd Dominique will preside, and committal services will follow at the Veterans Memorial Chapel of Fountain Cemetery and military honors by the Fostoria United Veterans will also take place. Burial will then follow in St. Wendelin Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Wendelin School Educational Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.
