This book transcribes the epitaph of Etheldred Thornburgh in the Cartmel Church. It says that she was the wife of William Thornburgh, and her parents were Justice Carus and his wife Katherine. Etheldred died the "thyrde of Martche, a[nd] yeare of grace One thowsand fyve hundred nyntie six" at the age of "nighe fortie years a[nd] six"
The book also says that she was the daughter of Thomas Carus of Halton in Lancashire.
