Emmett "Butch" Holley Burke

— Emmett "Butch" Holley Burke, of Glenpool, died June 12, 2006 at his home at the age of 63. Butch was born Jan. 5, 1943 in Sapulpa and had lived in this area all most all of his life. Butch never met a stranger. He was friends with everyone he came in contact with. He was a fitter by trade, yet he was a jack of all trades. He drove a truck, sold life insurance, rebuilt or repaired cars; whatever needed to be fixed or done, he could do it or he had a large circle of friends who could help him do it. And he thought he did it best ?? usually he did. He loved life; he loved his family and friends, his cats, classic cars, and of course, his rock and roll music. Butch and Brandy Burke were married April 18, 1992 in Eufaula City Park. From that day forward, they were one. You rarely saw one without the other. Butch leaves behind his daughter, Tricia Daugherty and stepson Gary Hughes. Tricia is married to Doug Daugherty and their blended family includes grandson Leslie James Kangas, granddaughter Loretta May Black, and step-granddaughters Brittany Daugherty and Tara Daugherty. Gary is single. Butch is also survived by his sister, Betty Rush and her husband, Clarence. Their family includes daughters Peggy and husband Mike Fields, Rita and husband Bobby Blackburn, and sons Tommy Musgrove, John Lile and Bobby Bargeron. Butch had seven great-nieces and nephews. Butch had a large circle of friends, and three of his closest friends for over 50 years: John McPhail, Tony Tyer and Edd Bradshaw will speak at his memorial service. I invite anyone who has a fond memory of Butch to also come up and speak. Butch would not want tears or sadness. Unfortunately that is not something we can prevent, but please remember him with your fond memories, for I know there are many. Memorial services for Butch will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2006 in the Smith Funeral Chapel. [Pd. 6-24-2006]
