Personal History

Emma Overton, (third) daughter of George Overton of Bardney, wood dealer[2] or carpenter,[1] by Emma[1] Hall,[2] was born on 1 April 1860 at Bardney, Lincolnshire, England; the birth was registered in the district of Lincoln by her mother on 23 April.[2] She was baptized on 6 April in the parish of Bardney.[1]

By 26 October 1871, Emma arrived at the Port of New York on the S.S. Wisconsin with her mother, Emma Overton, and five siblings. The ship had originated in Liverpool and made a stop in Queenstown (Cobh), Ireland.[3]
