Elizabeth Barnes died by 19 April 1826 when the first and final account of her estate was made. In 1827, Peregrine Elder gave an account of his guardianship of the orphans, Rhoda C., Thomas, James A., John Dorsey, Benjamin, and Rufus D. Barnes.

The other children of this family [not listed in the above accounting] were Hannah, Marcella, and Henry.
