  1. Gloucester, Essex, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Records of Gloucester, Massachusetts, to the End of the Year 1849. (Salem, Massachusetts.: Essex Institute, 1917), 1:655.
  2. Pringle, James Robert. History of the town and city of Gloucester, Cape Ann, Massachusetts. (Gloucester, Mass.: Procter Brothers, 1860), 158.

The birth of his daughter Deborah in 1640 or 1648 is on our books. [Apparently he felt the entry somewhat illegible or out of order, though most other sources, including the published VRs seem to favor 1640.1648 seems a little more consistent with the overall history of the family since they migrated to Salem first, only later to Gloucester.]

  3. Ackerman, Arlene L. Brown. Descendants of Thomas and Deborah (?) Skillings : of Cumberland Co, Maine.

Cites several sources suggesting Deborah was unmarried in 1715 when she made oath in support of her younger brothers claim to their inheritance, as recorded in the Book of Eastern Claims.
