[Barnstable Probate 5:204] 31 Jul 1734: "ye Children of Dean Smith Deceased which s'd Dean Smith was one of s'd John Smiths Sons ... s'd Dean Smith is Since Deceased Leaving four Children viz Dean, HEman, Asaph, Sons & Meriam a daughter ... Reserving utno Hester Smith widow of s'd Dean her Right of Dower. [The probate judge is reviewing the case because his successor died in office in 1727, and is undoubtedly using the names as written on the original documents, hence does not refer to the widow as Hester Crosby.]
