    Wide Range to his generosity - many remembered in the will of Charles D. Sias
    Employees and widows of former salesmen among them

    Salem - July 9 - Public institutions of Boston and elsewhere, as well as many relatives and employes of the late Charles D. Sias are generously rembered in his will, now on file in the Essex County Probate Court, and which will be formally submitted for probate July 21.

    The testator died at his country residence, Wenham, June 22. The will was executed May 22, 1913, the witnesses being Terrance Parker, Frederick A. Flood and Selwyn Z. Bowman, all of Boston. The winter home of testator was at 11 bay State road and his place of business 200 High st. Boston.

    The executors and trustees named in the will are Alice E. Sias, wife, William T. Rich, and William M. Priest.

    The public bequests are as follows:
    Darmouth College - $15,000, University of Vermont - 15,000, Montpelier, Vt. Academy - 5,000, Thomas Morgan Botch Jr. Memorial Hospital for Infants, Boston - 10,000, New Eng. Deaconess Association, Boston - 10,000

    The following Boston institutions each receive $5,000: Preacher's Aid Society of New England conference, Boston Asylum and Farm School, Home for Aged Men, Home for Aged Women, Young Women's Christian Association, Boston Floating Hospital, New England Home for Little Wanderers, Boston YMCA, Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Boston Infants' Hospital, Boston Children's Aid Society, Convalescents' Home of the Children's Hospital, New England Hospital for Women and Children, Industrial School for Crippled and Deformed Children, Massachusetts Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children, Boston Nursery for Blind Babies, Church Home for Orphans and Destitute Children, St. Luke's Home Convalescents, Vincent Memorial Hospital, Children's Hospital, Boston Home for Incurables.

    Following is a summary of the private bequests: to Alice E. Sias, wife, homestead on Bay State road Boston, and homestead at Wenham, all furnishings of said homes; also $200,000 outright. One million dollars in trust, net incometo be paid quarterly to Alice E. Sias, wife, during her lifetime.

    Mrs. Fred Fehr, formerly Annie Swanson, $1,000, and Mrs. John Rosland, formerly Lena Lagerqusit, $2,500. The above named were former employes. Jonathan Porter, superintendent of estate at Wenham, $2,500. Hulda Anderson, Hulda Peterson and Emma Swanson (employes) each $2,500. Reginald Hamn, chauffeur, $1,000, Robert Shilladay, coachman, $2,500. To each maid servant in service at the Boston and Wenham homes, $1,000.

    Laura Taft Haverly, William Taft, cousins of Taftsville, Vt, Ella Hall Giles of Haverland, VT, and Hennie Hall of Cambridge, each $2,500.

    Gertrude, wife of Thomas C. Sias; Agnes, wife of Frank S.V. Sias; Carrie, wife of William S. Blake, each $5,000.

    Abiel H. Wright, husband of the testator's deceased sister (Sophia Sias) $5,000.

    The following nieces each receive $50,000; Agnes Blake Edgerly, Bertha F. Priest, Clara S. Davis, Martha Sias, Caroline Phillips.

    Thomas C. Sias and William S. Blake, nephews, each $50,000. Charles S. Wright and Frank S.V. Sias, nephews, each $10,000.

    William Salter Carleton, Frederick Gale Carleton, Edith Beatrice Carleton, widow of William S. Carleton, each $2,500 each.

    In trust, $50,000 net income to Agnes Sias, wife of Frank S.V. Sias, nephew. In trust, $50,000, net income to Margaret J. Devine, formerly of Cambridge and now of Mattapan.

    Twnety-five hundred dollars each to the following named widows of salesmen who were in the service of Chase & Sanborn: Kate I. Andrews, widow of Harry S. Andrews; Alice L. Spencer, widow of Norman H. Spencer, Annie J. Bisbee, widow of Jesse D. Bisbee, Mary E. Taylor, widow of Francis W. Taylor, Mris. Robert H Schell.

    To each employe in the factory, shipping, sales and office departments of the firm of Chasae and Sanborn, $300. To each traveling salesman whose service is less than five years, $300, five years and not more than 10 years, $500, 10 years and less than 15 years, $1000, 15 years and less than 20 years, $1500, more than 20 years, $2000. To each widow of a traveling salesman who served for 20 or more years, $2500.

    The rest and residue of the estate is bequethed to his wife, Alice E. Sias. Upon her death the trusts enumerated in the will will terminate.
