Bertha A. Mayer Services for Bertha A. Mayer, 79, of 1211 West Washington, who died Monday at a Boise hospital of a short illness, will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Alden-Waggoner chapel by the Rev. Joseph Housh of the First United Methodist Church. Interment will be at 3 p.m. in Emmett Cemetery. She was born July 8, 1895, in Pittsburgh, Pa. She moved to Northern Idaho as a young girl and later attended schools in Donnelly. She graduated from Albion State Normal School with a teachers degree and taught in Idaho elementary schools for 43 years, 26 years with the Boise school system. When she retired she was teaching at Central School in Boise. She was a member of the First United Methodist church and a member of the church’s Golden Years Club. She was a member and a past president of the Retired Teachers Association, a past president of Mu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and a member of the Boise Camera Club. Surviving are three sisters, Frieda Mayer, Boise, Irma Bane, Seattle, and Marie Nassen, San Diego, Calif; a brother, Henry, Donnelly; and two nieces and three nephews. Memorials may be made to the Idaho Lung Association.
