At his home in Pleasant Valley, town of Alfred, N. Y., March 18, 1902, Arad Wheeler Davis.
Brother Davis was the youngest son of Joseph and Mary Allen Davis, being the last of six children. He was born Aug. 25, 1835, on the same farm where he always lived, and where he died. He was married Nov. 13, 1857, to Verona E. Potter, who survives him. On Jan. 19, 1878, he was baptized by Rev. A. H. Lewis, uniting with the Second Alfred church, of which he was a trustee at the time of his death. The three children which blessed his married life all passed on before him to the better land. Three grandchildren remain. Bro. Davis was of a sunny, cheerful temperament, a good neighbor and husband, and a support to the church. Funeral services were held at the church, where a large concourse of relatives and friends were assembled. The lonely widow has the sympathy of all.
