          Andrew Leathers was born in Morgan Co., Indiana, August 16, 1841. He departed from this life March 15, 1906 aged 64 years, 6 months, 29 days, at his late home which was made at his brother's, Sanford Leathers, about three and one half miles southwest of Delta. When four years of age he with his parents moved to Mahaska Co., Iowa. When he was about eighteen years of age his parents moved to Keokuk Co., where he has since remained. He united with the Baptist church at Springfield when about thirty-six years of age and has remained a true Christian until the end. He leaves an aged mother, one brother and five sisters with a host of other friends and relatives to mourn his loss.

          Andrew Leathers, age 64, died at the home of his brother, Sanford Leathers, Wednesday, the 14th, at 6 o'clock p.m. He had been a member of the Baptist church for thirty-three years. He had been in poor health for some time before his death. He requested that a Baptist minister should preach his funeral sermon, so it was arranged. The sermon was preached at the M.E. church in Delta, after which he was laid to rest in the Springfield cemetery.
