Personal History

Amelia Overton, (second) daughter of George Overton of Bardney, wood dealer, by Emma[1] Hall,[2] was born on 1 October 1855 at Bardney, Lincolnshire, England; the birth was registered in the district of Lincoln by her mother on 1 November.[2] She was baptized on 3 October 1858 in the parish of Bardney on the same day as her brother John.[1]

By 26 October 1871, Amelia arrived at the Port of New York on the S.S. Wisconsin with her mother, Emma Overton, and five siblings. The ship had originated in Liverpool and made a stop in Queenstown (Cobh), Ireland.[3]
