Early Land Acquisition in Augusta County, VA

Acquisition of Land from Chalkley's:


  • Alexander Craig received a patent of 335 acres, 10th September, 1755; on a small branch of Middle River of Shanandoe, cor. James Gamble's land, (as listed in the dispositions below).
  • Alexander Craig received a patent of 144 acres in March, 1756, on Middle River of Shanandoe, corner James Patterson; corner Young's line (in 1766), (as listed in the dispositions below).
  • Alexander Craig received a patent of 45 acres, 5th June, 1765, on a small branch of Middle River of Shanandoe, Tract of 45 adjoins above (335 acre patent acquired in 1755), hill near Craig's old house; corner to Alexander Blays; William Frame's line, (as listed in the dispositions below).
