Antoine Babin (1st Generation) Charts 48, 62 (p. 51) Native of La Chausee, department of Vienne, Grance, b. 1626. Married in France abt. 1661 to Marie Mercier, whose father's first name is unknown. Her mother was Francoise Gaudet, whose second marriage was to Daniel LeBlanc. Antoine and Marie arrived Acadia ca 1662. They settled in Port Royal. Children: Marie. b. 1663; Charles b 1554; Vincent b 1665; Jeanne b 1667; Marguerite b 1670; Catherine b 1672; Anne b 1674; Antoine b 1676; Madeline b 1678; Francoise b 1681; Jean b 1684. VINCENT BABIN (2nd generation) (p. 51) b. 1665, son of Antoine Babin and Marie Mercier of Port Royal. Ca 1687 married in Port Royal to Anne Terriot (Theriot), b 1672, daughter of Claude Terriot and Marie Gauterot. The family lived in the parish of the Holy Family in Pisiguit (Windsor) about 90 miles by boat from Port Royal. Joseph Babin (3rd generation) b. 1710, son of Vincent Babin and Anne Terriot of Pisiguit. Married ca 1730 to Anne Marie Landry, b. 1715, daughter of Pierre Landry and Marguerite Forest. Joseph, Anne Marie, and Joseph's father lived in Holy Family Parish in Pisiguit until they were exiled and deported to Lower Marlborough, Maryland. After Anne Marie died in Virginia in 1763, Joseph and his family traveled to Louisiana, where they settled. Dominique Babin (4th generation) (p. 52) b. ca 1731 at Pisiguit (Windsor), probably son of Joseph Babin and Anne Landry. Ca 1752, married Marguerite Boudreaux. During the expulsion, they were deported to Maryland. Joseph Babin (5th generation) (p. 52) b. 1755, son of Dominique Babin and Marguerite Boudreaux, who were Acadian exiles living in Maryland. Joseph made his way overland to the Attakapas District of Louisiana, 20 February 1778. Married in St. Martinville to Anastasie Melancon, b. 1759, daughter of Honore Melancon and Marie Josephe Breaux, who had settled at St. James, La after being deported from Acadia. Pierre Alexandre Babin (6th generation) (p. 53) Born 25 October 1792. Son of Joseph Babin and Anastasie Melancon. Married 17 February 1817 to Marie Tarsille Thibodeaux, born 1799, daughter of Isaac Thibodeaux and Felicite Bernard. Grew up in Louisiana (book has description of plantation, inventory and children on pages 54-55). Marie Anais Babin (7th generation) (p. 56) Born 6 October 1842. Daughter of Pierre Alexandre Babin and Marie Tarsille Thibodeaux. Married 19 January 1861 to Jules Hermogeene Broussard, son of Hermogene Broussard and Euphemie Breaux (book has description of plantation, inventory and children on pages 56-57). Antoine Babin (3rd Generation) (p 57) Born 1718 and named for his grandfather. Believed to be son of Vincent Babin and Anne Theriot of Pisiguit. Antoine married Catherine landry ca 1740. During the dispersion, the family was deported to Port Abaco, Maryland, where they were living in 1763. The family moved to Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana. Records show them living there in 1769. (Book has list of children.) Claire (Clara) Babin (4th generation) (pp 57-58) Born ca 1752, daughter of Antoine Babin and Catherine Landry. During the dispersion, they were deported to Portaboro, Maryland, and were living there in 1763. In 1765, the family was in Louisiana. On 22 January 1769, there were at Port St. Louis (near Vidalia, LA). Claire married Pierre Guidry, widower of Marguerite Dupuy and son of Augustin Guidry and Jeanne Hebert, who were exiled Acadians in Louisiana. Claire and Pierre lived at port St. Louis and the Cabahanoce area before moving to the Opelousas district, where Pierre received a Spanish land grant in 1777. They made their home on this land, which was located on the Bayou Carencro in Section 48, to worship(??) 8 South, Range 4 East. Claire died 19 June 1780, when she and Pierre's sixth child was born. Marie Babin (2nd generation) (p. 58) Born ca 1743, daughter of Pierre Babin and Marie Landry. She was an exiled Acadian who came to Louisiana probably by way of Maryland. She married Claude Martin ca 1769, son of Charles Martin and Jeanne Commeaux. Their confirmation is recorded in The First Book of Confirmations in St. Louis Parish, New Orleans.
