Summary

The Declarations de Belle-Ile-en-Mer provide a wealth of information as to who these Acadians were when, in 1755, they were exiled to Virginia then to England. After the Treaty of Paris of 1763, they were repatriated to France and given land in Belle-Ile-en-Mer. Through these depositions we have been able to learn some of the family origins, where these once exiled Acadians were born, married and where their parents and grandparents were born, married and died. This document also reveal the names and birth dates of their siblings as well as the marriages, births and deaths that took place while in exile and afterwards prior to these depositions being taken at Belle-Ile-en-Mer. Some would later go to Louisiana in 1785.
