[add comment] [edit] "Anna Stiltz" is this possibly "Anna Diltz" or "Anna Dilts"... [30 April 2013]Performing some research on land south of Dayton, Ohio; while viewing the Recorder's Index, a name "Francis Dilts" is entered in the first few lines after Horace and Perry Pease purchase land from "Mathias Pearson" a revolutionary war soldier awarded land for his service in war. This entry is in the Miami Township book, on the first page of index for the section/range/township of land I am researching. entry is dated post 1814 - one of the first transactions in Miami Township, Montgomery Co., Ohio. It is only an assumption that "Stilz" could be "Dilts or Diltz". I did happen to recognize this name "Francis Dilts" when I first saw it for some reason, so I've been thinking of why all along...perhaps he is buried in one of the older cemeteries I have walked around and taken photos of in my past. I have taken pics of Sugarcreek Presbyterian (the old "Pioneer" Cemetery in Bellbrook, Ohio) and the Sugar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery (also called the Old Centerville Cemetery) behind the old "Poor Richards" or "Hungry Elk" or "Burger Chef" on North Main, across from Incarnation Church. The Rehobeth Cemetery (Rt. 48 south of Centerville, Ohio), the Sugarcreek Friends Meeting House Quaker Cemetery off Clyo Road in Centerville, and Washington Church Cemetery, corner of Washington Church Rd. and Rt. 725 near Dayton Mall. I have family buried in this area at Woodland, and Centerville Cemeteries, Gephardt Church and Miamisburg's Hill Grove Cemetery. I will look to see if Francis Diltz or "Dilts" is buried in any of these while I am in our family cemeteries over this Memorial Day. Perhaps "Anna Diltz" will be a daughter of Francis! any suggestions or comments or relations to Pease and Dilts families most welcome here. I believe Horace Pease is intered at Woodland, so I will most certainly find his grave to check on the spelling of Anna, his wife. I have not looked at any graves yet on the internet, so it very well may be here, although I am a "see it to believe it person"....so I will check to see if this is correct if I find it online first also! thank you--MarthaAve 12:43, 29 April 2013 (EDT) |
