Robert Hawkins married Martha Davice/Davis in Baltimore Co, MD on 23 Apr 1764 as found in Maryland Marriages 1634-1777, Robert Barnes, 1975, p82. The citation states 2BA-226 which is from the St.John’s and St. George’s Parish found at the Maryland Historical Society; “despite the title of the manuscript, the records are chiefly those of St. John’s Parish.”

Robert Hawkins appeared in the Harford Co, MD Court as a defendant in a suit against the executor of the estate of Sarah Bond, who was a relative of his wife, Martha Davice Hawkins.

Abstracts of the Orphans Court Proceedings 1778-1800 for Harford County, Maryland, Henry C. Peden, 1990

Dec 1780 William Richardson, Benjamin Richardson, Samuel Richardson, James Norris (Indian), and Robert Hawkins against George Bradford, executor of Sarah Bond.

Court could not admit copy of Sarah Bond’s will in the late perorgative office of this state to be given as evidence. The jury found for plaintiff George Bradford. Motion to appeal to the Court of Chancery was granted.

My interpretation of this court case is that:

  • Robert Hawkins, husband of Martha Davis.
  • Her father William Davis; her mother Elizabeth Tayman
  • Elizabeth Tayman’s sister (Martha’s aunt) was Sarah Tayman. This Sarah married William Bond. This would make her Sarah Bond.
  • Elizabeth Davis, Martha Davis Hawkins sister, married James Norris.
  • Sarah Davis, MDH’s sister, married Samuel Richardson.
  • Mary Davis, MDH’s sister, married William Richardson.

William Bond and his first wife: March 1710: William and his wife Mary, along with John Butteram and his wife Elizabeth conveyed to Simon Pierson their interest in lands that belonged to Thomas, Daniel, and William Westbury.

The administration bond for William's estate was posted 6 June 1739 by William Bond, Thomas Bond Sr. and Luke Stansbury. His estate was administered in 1742, Baltimore CO. MD. In 1750 listed as taxable in Baltimore County, MD., William's heirs owned 50 acres "Addition", 148 acres "Buck's Range", 150 acres "Lawrence's Pasture" and 196 acres "Hannah's Delight". William Bond’s second wife, Sarah may have been born Sarah Tamon.

Sarah Bond left a will dated 19 April 1770 to 14 May 1770 mentioning her sister Elizabeth, the wife of William Davis; Margaret Tamon; brother Henry Tamon; John Durham; her stepdaughter Alice Johnson; Ann Fryer; Elizabeth Rigdon; Elizabeth Leach; Salloma Durham; Elizabeth Baker, the daughter of Theophilus Baker and the executor of the estate George Bradford.

"Maryland Calendar of Wills, 1767-1772, Volume 14," Family Line Publications, Westminster, MD, 21157, 1993, 1994, p. 124:

BOND, Sarah, Baltimore Co. 19 Apr, 1770/14 May, 1770

Letters of administration were issued to William Richardson as one of the nearest kin of said Sarah Bond, and Benjamin B. Norris, and Sedwick James were approved as his securities.
