Nelson and Mabel had three children, one son and two daughters.

Nelson's obituary reads, "NELSON W. GLADIEUX, 78, of Manitou Beach, Mich., and formerly of New Haven, died Saturday in Mercy Hospital, Toledo, Ohio. Born in New Haven, he lived in the area about 20 years. He formerly was vice president and a member of the Board of Directors of V. Gladieux Enterprises Inc., of Toledo. Surviving are his wife, Mabel; one son, David, of Bowling Green, Ohio; two daughters, Marilyn Davis, of Clearwater, Fla., and Angela Sevier, of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Virgil, of Toledo, and Clyde, of New Haven; two sisters, Alice Parnin, of Fort Wayne, and Ida Thorp, of Angola; and 11 grandchildren. Services at 11 a.m. EDT (10 a.m. Fort Wayne time) Tuesday in St. Agnes Church, Toledo. Calling after 2 p.m. Monday in Ansberg-West Funeral Home, Toledo. Memorials to American Heart Association." He is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Toledo, Ohio.
