    Hon. Thaddeus Stevens (2993) graduated from Dartmouth College in 1815; read law with Hon. John Mattocks at Peacham, Vt.; from Peacham, he went to Gettysburg, Pa., thence to Lancaster, Pa., in 1842; was a member of the Pennsylvania legislature in 1833-4-5-7 and '47; was a member of Congress in 1849-53-59-67, occupying a prominent position amongst its leading politicians.
