Will of "Philemon Whale of Sudbury", dated 19 Jan 1675[/6], mentions "the foure sonnes of my loveing daughter Elizabeth Moores, vizt. William, Jacob, Joseph and Benjamine". (Note that Elizabeth was actually a step-daughter, not a natural daughter of Philemon Whale. See Person:Philemon Whale (1) for a discussion of his children.) That the eldest son Person:John Moore (156) is not included is commonly thought to show that Elizabeth Rice was a second wife, and that the eldest children John and Elizabeth must have belonged to the first wife.
