Wedding bonds of Isaac Scott and Elizabeth Miles
"Know all men by these presents that we Isaac Scott and Thomas Stewart are held and firmly bound unto Henry Lee Esq. Govenor of the Commonwealth of Virginia in the sum of fifty pounds current money to be paid to the said Lee Esq. Govenor as aforesaid or to his lawfull branch for the use of this said Commonwealth which payment will and truly be made we bind ourselves jointly and severally our joint and several heirs firmly by their presents. Sealed with our seals and dated this 21st. day of January 1793.
The condition of this obligation is such that wherever there is a marriage shortly intended to be solemnized between the above bound Isaac Scott and Elizabeth Miles spinster each of Amherst County and parish of Lexington. Therefore there be no lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage then the above obligation is to void or else to remain in full force ____.{last word looks like "xverlise"?)
