Evidence linking children to parents:

  • Lester and Lyman are found with Charles and his second wife Elizabeth in the 1850 Michigan census.
  • Elvira's death record gives her father as "Chas Fox;" since she lived in Erie and Huron counties in 1850 and was married in Berlin in 1851, it is very likely that her father is the Charles who lived in Huron Co. in 1840.
  • Jane's death record lists her parents as Charles Fox and Annie Studdley

The 1840 suggests that there should be a third son in this family. Jane's Find-A-Grave memorial names him Alvin, but as yet no other evidence has been found linking him to the family.

  2. Marriage is recorded in the Huron County records, as Erie County had not yet been formed. However, it is likely that the marriage was in the portion of Huron that was annexed to Erie in 1838.
