GEDCOM problem [7 December 2008]

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that we had a problem importing your GEDCOM last night. We're looking into the problem and hope to have it resolved soon. Thank-you for your patience.--Dallan 12:01, 5 December 2008 (EST)

Just an update - I see that you've been trying to upload different versions of your GEDCOM without success. I apologize for the delay. The fellow who wrote the GEDCOM upload code has been unavailable to figure out what's going wrong. I'll get with him as soon as he's available again to figure out why we're unable to load your GEDCOM and let you know. Please be patient with us during this process. Once we're able to fix the bug on our end, which of your GEDCOM's should we process?--Dallan 22:26, 6 December 2008 (EST)

I just wanted to let you know that we fixed the problem on our end and were able to upload one of your gedcom's last night. If we uploaded the wrong one, please feel free to delete the tree (select Trees in the MyRelate menu) and upload a new one.--Dallan 11:33, 7 December 2008 (EST)

Thanks for being so proactive! This high level of service is not found on other sites. I'm even more impressed with where this site seems to be going. Thank you very much! --Rharrison 19:28, 7 December 2008 (EST)

‎notliving-connected.ged [4 August 2009]

Hi,

Welcome to the WeRelate community. I noticed that your -- gedcom has been uploaded. The system is new and might be a little confusing at first. Do you need any help with the review process? If you were not aware of the review process, click on this link to go to review page -- You can come and go as you have time. The link to gedcom review is located in a message on your talk page. (Click on MyRelate and select "Talk Page.")

WeRelate is an active community of genealogists staffed by volunteers. Our mission is help people to collaborate on common ancestors. The review process will connect you with other genealogists researching common ancestors. Your gedcom cannot be uploaded until you have checked the warnings and possible matches with common ancestors. The warnings will tell you if someone died before they married/were born, etc. You can correct the page in the lower window by clicking on the edit link. You must look at every warning and every suggested match. You need to read through the warnings and review the suggested family matches. For each family match, please mark it as a match or not a match.

Let me know if you need help getting started. You should be aware that Gedcoms left unreviewed/uploaded will be deleted after ten days.  :)

Thanks, --Judy (jlanoux) 16:56, 4 August 2009 (EDT)

Northern Neck Land Grants info [22 October 2009]

I noticed your MySource:Rharrison/Virginia Land Office Patents and Grants/Northern Neck Grant and Surveys and realized we might have a mutual interest. I have been working on a page: Northern Neck, Virginia Research Guide and another researcher has started a page (still under construction): The Northern Neck Proprietary: Its Proprietors and Virginia Land Grants.

I started the Research Guide page because I was not familiar with what was available for research in this area and wanted to put what I found all in one place. The author of the Proprietary page has extensive knowledge of the area and the subject, so I asked him if he would create a page for werelate and the page in still being worked on. Since these are new pages I thought you might not be aware of them and maybe would be interested.--Janiejac 11:03, 22 October 2009 (EDT)

I've added section formatting to your source. Hope that's OK with you. This is really great information. But I suggest that this could be made two pages: the first to be a regular 'article' telling about the land grants in general (vs a MySource) that everybody could learn from. The article would have links to the Repository: Library of Virginia Page. And then you could have your land grant information for Alexander Davidson as a MySource and link to the article and/or to the Repository LVA. What I'm getting at is that you have very good information on land grants that is of general interest and then you also have the individual info about Alexander's land grant. --Janiejac 11:28, 22 October 2009 (EDT)

Overstreet in Bedford County, VA [29 October 2009]

I have a large amount of data for the Overstreet surnames with some connection to Bedford Co VA. I would like to compare the names you are interested with what I have in the Bedford Virginia Overstreet (BVO) data base.--Bob Overstreet 14:17, 29 October 2009 (EDT)
