hodgkiss.ged appears to overlap a previously-imported GEDCOM [27 March 2008]

The pages from this GEDCOM have not yet been generated because they appear to match pages from a GEDCOM you have previously imported to WeRelate.

If you have already imported a GEDCOM containing people in this GEDCOM and you want to replace that tree with this GEDCOM, you need to delete that tree first so duplicates aren't created when you import this GEDCOM. Go to the Family Tree page, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click on the "delete" link next to that tree. Please be aware that any pages in that tree that are being watched by others won't get deleted. Once that tree is deleted you can create a new tree and re-upload this GEDCOM into it. (We're planning to make re-uploading GEDCOM files much simpler later this Fall.)

If you don't think you have already imported a GEDCOM containing people in this GEDCOM, or if the two GEDCOM's don't overlap that much, leave a message for Dallan or send an email to dallan@WeRelate.org and we'll go ahead with the import.

Image license [7 August 2008]

Hi, I am an admin for WeRelate. It is my job to review image licensing. I noticed that you had a question on your image. I have marked it as a "low resolution copy of a unique historical photograph."

Generally, the rule for "fair use" of family photos is:

a. the image either is significantly lower resolution than the original or the image is a small snippet of the original, and
b. the photograph depicts a non-reproducible historic subject, and no free alternative exists or can be created, and
c. of no larger and of no higher quality than is necessary for the illustration of an article, and
d. the use of the image on WeRelate is not expected to decrease the value of the copyright.

If you believe this is the incorrect category for your photo, please answer as many of the following as possible:

1. Do you know approximately when the photo was taken?
2. Do you know who took the photo? When the photographer died?
3. What was the original size of the image?
4. Is the image a part of a larger whole?

Please respond by clicking on my user name at the end of this message and select Leave a message. Thanks.  :-)

I put a note on a Carstensen page [18 November 2008]

I put a note on one of the Carstensen (sic) pages. That should be Cartensen right? Probably my typo. I've been doing a lot of merges since they got the new merge feature added. Have you tried it yet? My old computer died and I lost a lot of email and my addresses, so I don't have your email address anymore.--Bevbh 20:42, 17 November 2008 (EST)
