Hello and welcome to the WeRelate. Thanks so much for participating and contributing what you know to our virtual genealogical community. Together we can build a community website where we can learn from each other, work together and find what we need to make our research easier, more rewarding and fun. We need your input to make the website the best that it can be. What would be really helpful for you? What seems difficult? We will be automating GEDCOM uploads in the next few months. They will automatically generate person Person:Ella Grey (1) and family Family:Daniel Phillips & Ella Grey (1) wiki pages. Anything you'd like to see?

If you would like to create a homepage:

  1. You will need to log in
  2. select the My Relate tab,
  3. click on homepage
  4. click on edit

You will see three edit boxes. The first is for Surname in Place pages. These are like message boards--only they can be organized by county and family group. See Phillips in Texas. (If you click on edit button you will be able to see how to create the headers for Phillips in Texas. ) Be sure use only one surname spelling (not any Given names) and capitalize only the first letter of the surname. The system is case sensitive and will index Jones as a different name from JONES. It should be entitled Surname|Place name. The place should be a large area such as a state, province or county.

Personal Research pages are password protected. These pages can be viewed by all but only you can write on them. They are a great place to store your research notes, to do list and transcriptions of historical documents. These can have any title you choose.

The third text box is for your homepage information. What ever you would like to tell the world about yourself and your research. Have fun and welcome to our virtual genealogical community.
