McKenzie Cargill Mar 9 2008_2009-02-03.ged appears to overlap a previously-imported GEDCOM [3 February 2009]

The pages from this GEDCOM have not yet been generated because they appear to match pages from a GEDCOM you have previously imported to WeRelate.

If you have already imported a GEDCOM containing people in this GEDCOM and you want to replace that tree with this GEDCOM, you need to delete that tree first so duplicates aren't created when you import this GEDCOM. Go to the Family Tree page, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click on the "delete" link next to that tree. Please be aware that any pages in that tree that are being watched by others won't get deleted. Once that tree is deleted you can create a new tree and re-upload this GEDCOM into it. (We're planning to make re-uploading GEDCOM files much simpler later this Fall.)

If you don't think you have already imported a GEDCOM containing people in this GEDCOM, or if the two GEDCOM's don't overlap that much, leave a message for Dallan or send an email to dallan@WeRelate.org and we'll go ahead with the import.

reply [7 February 2009]

Hi Irene, we are not connected (but one never can tell); I was looking around a bit and came across a list of doubles they want people to have a look at and help remove, if possible, so I merged a few that were evidently the same. I very much enjoy this site; it is fun to work with and it has great potential; so far I have been making some pages online (not through gedcom as yet, but I think I will do so).

Kindest regards from the Netherlands, Leo --Leo Bijl 09:37, 7 February 2009 (EST)

(ps I left the message in reply on my own page, think I made a mistake.)--Leo Bijl 10:21, 7 February 2009 (EST)

Duplicate Pages [14 February 2009]

Hello, I am a volunteer administrator here at WeRelate. I noticed that you uploaded a GEDCOM(s) on 5 February 2009. This upload caused a number of duplicate pages to be created. WeRelate has a match and merge function that will enable you to merge these pages with relative ease. Our goal is to only have one wiki page per person.

To begin the merging process, just go to your user page, click on My Relate on the blue menu bar, and then choose Show Duplicates. Once there, click on a potential duplicate, and you will be lead step-by-step through the quick process.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and welcome to WeRelate!--Jennifer (JBS66) 11:23, 14 February 2009 (EST)

[3 March 2009]

Hello Irene, I presume most of the doubles have been filtered out now, which reminds me: I came across something, just by chance. There are MacKenzies and others in there; Australia mostly, I believe. http://www.linleyfh.com/oursecondsite-p/p391.htm Yours, Leo--Leo Bijl 15:11, 3 March 2009 (EST)

Noticed a connection with another WeRelate user [4 March 2009]

Hello, I wanted to let you know that while I was working on merging family pages today, I noticed that one of the families in your line became connected with another here on WeRelate. The page is Family:Ernest Hilson and Agnes Shearer (1). I wanted to highlight it here, since I realize you may have been inundated with e-mails yesterday as a result of all of the merging!--Jennifer (JBS66) 07:28, 4 March 2009 (EST)

Margaret Davidson wife of Henry Cargill [18 September 2010]

Margaret Davidson was the daughter of William Trimble and Anna Kean. Kenz has the father being William Davidson and Ann? This is not correct. 1861 Census from Nassagaweya, Halton, Ontario, Canada shows that Margaret Ann Davidson is the daughter of William and Anna Kean.

William Trimble was a business partner and friend of Henry Cargill. William operated a store for Henry in Nassagaweya, Halton, Ontario, Canada and also in Cargill.

Have lots more evidence of this connection.

Cheers

Who are you and how do you know so much about my family? [15 July 2011]

Who are you and what relation do you have to the surname Swan? I'm Canadian (with very strong Scot roots; My Dad emigrated in 1973) and I've been searching my family genealogy (Swan) for the past ten years. Any information would be wonderful seeing I have not met anyone (except my gran, Margaret Harper) but that was only when I was an infant in 1980-1981. All I know is that I was named after her. Aside from that, I've never met any of my Scots relatives. I would love to talk to or cyber meet at least a couple of my cousins, aunts etc...

Thanks : )

Margaret (Peg) Plester nee: Swan.--Wee peggy 22:14, 13 July 2011 (EDT)

Margaret,

Are you asking Kenz how you are related or myself? The way the messages are done it is somewhat confusing. You could be asking Kenz? Not sure.

Whoever is connected to the Cargill line which I think Kenz posted some items. I made a message posting in 2010 that talked about William Trimble and Anna Kean being the parents of Margaret Ann Davidson who became Mrs Cargill, wife of Henry Cargill. this is correct, but William Trimble would be the Step Father of Margaret Ann Davidson.

Anna Kean was married to a Davidson (first name unknown)but who died in or around 1850. Anna remarried to William Trimble my 3rd Great Grandfather in 1851 in Nelson Township in Halton. William Trimble had a great relationship with Henry Cargill as he was his son in law. William worked for Henry doing some book work and also ran a few different stores for him. They also became business partners in a few dealings. William was also an executor of Henry Cargill's will and Henry's son Wellington David Cargill was an executor of William Trimble's will. I have a copy of both wills.

Margaret Ann Davidson who became Mrs Cargill also had a sister named Mary Jane Davidson. She married Robert Walker.

I have a lot more info to pass on to whoever is interested.

If someone would like some info, please contact me direct at jshall@rogers.com

Cheers

About the Stewart and Cargill connection [9 July 2017]

Hi Kenz,

I just signed on to "We Relate". I am a descendant of George Ruddell who came to Canada in 1845. He married Christina(Christiana) Stewart in 1851 in Nelson County Ontario.

Christina Stewart and Elizabeth Were sisters or first cousins. I am trying to firm up which they were.

You have similar or related information and I am hoping you will share it with me. I will share what I have.

Harvey Ruddell 778-363-4119 or j.harvey.ruddell@gmail.com

p.s. I haven't figured out to navigate "We Relate". Maybe you can give me some tips as well....--Harvey Ruddell 19:21, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
