Hi, the informant was my grandmother (living)Edwards wife on the death certificate. Also discussions with Edwards sister Jean (now deceased) confirm this. Have you searched the Victorian marriage records? Most Gwythers from this era seem to have originated there. I have looked at a few of them in researching my grandfathers details and there is a GEORGE F A W GWYTHER listed as marrying a Mary. I will look into this more and keep you posted.--Kelshipway 04:32, 14 September 2010 (EDT)

Parents of Edward George Gwyther [19 January 2014]

I acknowledge that the NSW death index 24122/1962 states that the parents for Edward George Gwyther were THOMAS and ANNABELLE, I assume that you have obtained a copy of the certificate which gives the other information you have listed. However, this appears to be at odds with the information provided on Annabella Gwyther's Victorian death certificate which indicates that she married George Arthur William Francis Gwyther in Sydney.

The only NSW marriage record for any Gwyther marrying any Mcleod between 1900 and 1920 is GEORGE F A W GWYTHER and ANNABELLA MCLEOD in 1906 at SYDNEY.

The only explanation I can offer is that the informant for Edward's death registration had the wrong information. Does your copy of the death certificate for Edward indicate who the informant was?

I suppose we assume that a wife would know the correct names of their husband's parents, but this may not be always be the case. I live in Victoria and have access to all of the available Victorian BDM indexes on CD's at home. Also, my mother (Edward's cousin)who was born 1916 and is still alive, is adamant that that her Aunt Bella McLeod married George Gwyther but, even though she has not made any mistakes when recalling the names of all her relations, she may be mistaken with this one.

The following are Gwyther (& Guyther) Births in the Digger - Pioneer Index. Victoria 1836-1888

I am unable to find any marriages for a George GWYTHER (or GUYTHER) in the Victorian Indexes.

I cannot help feeling that this NSW death record seems to be for a different person. Edward George Gwyther's father was definately George AWF, not Thomas, this is confirmed in the marriage and death records for both parents (Edward's sister Jean, who you mentioned, was the informant on Annabella's record).

Do you have an actual copy of this death certificate or at least all of the details from it? Does this certificate state the name of his wife and children? I would prefer not to have to spend $30 and wait 3 weeks to sort this out when he was only a remote cousin of my mother.

In 1941, when his father George died, Edward Gwyther was a farmer at Leongatha, in 1942 he enlisted in Melbourne. There are not any records of marriages for either a George or Edward GWYTHER (or similar) in the Victorian Indexes up to 1942. There is not a marriage record for Edward Gwyther in NSW up to 1959. According to the death record for Edward's mother Annabella, he died before 1964. There is no record for the death of Edward Gwyther (or similar) in the Victorian indexes up to 1985. It would also be helpful to know where Edward married Patricia Windin. There in no record for the birth of Patrica Windin (or similar) between 1902 and 1920 in the Victorian indexes. Incidentally, the ancestors of Mary Inwood were once extremely wealth and powerful. They lived in a 128-bedroom mansion in a village called Cotton in Staffordshire.--Quelquechosedautre 07:32, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

I have the Mary Elizabeth Inwood tree (Gwythers) back several hundred years [19 January 2014]

Hi,

I DEFINITELY have the correct tree for Mary Elizabeth Inwood running back several hundred years, BUT I am severely lacking on the tree in Australia. Sadly, in England, the descendent of George Moseley Lander tally up to less than a dozen, yet in Australia, the descendents of Mary Elizabeth Inwood, his granddaugther, appear to run into several score of people.

I PLEAD with you for info and layout of the tree in Australia. Also, do you know of details regarding Betty Cramer?
