Bumped into your Hovey pages! [3 October 2007]

Hi there, I just wanted to let you know that I bumped into your pages for HOVEY in colonial Massachusetts. You had the Hoveys nicely documented reaching back into England, I see. I picked up in one spot where you left off, with |Edmund Hovey and Mary Farwell, by adding their daughter Elizabeth, who married John SLAFTER, and from thence a long SLAFTER tree that I'd been working on. I added a little bit of info to a few of your pages from the sources I had, but you'd already done a great job, so there wasn't much for me to add. :-) It's fun to really see this site showing its promise by linking my work into other people's work. ---TomChatt 02:36, 3 October 2007 (EDT)

I have extensive data on several Allen families from the western NYS area with names Amasa, Amasa Sr. and Jr., Amasa Loomis Allen, Amzi Allen (alt. spelling of Amasa), Irene Allen, et. al. There are connections to WI from these Allen families in the 19th century. If you are interested in my 30 year+ database of family information please contact me and I will search for you - I do not charge fees of any sort. Please check out my Wheeler work [30 November 2008]

I've been merging and cleaning up a lot of Wheeler pages, including pages you're marked to watch. While I have some Wheelers in my database, I'm not nearly as informed about the surname as others. (Although I've recently learned more than I ever thought I'd want to know...). I'd appreciate it if you'd look over what I've done, including the initial drafting of Wheeler_in_Massachusetts and Wheeler_in_Connecticut pages. I'm certain I've made some errors but I've been so in the weeds of the Wheelers, that I'm not sure I can see properly anymore. I'd appreciate your help and guidance. Thanks. jillaine 18:17, 30 November 2008 (EST)

Hi Jillaine,

You have obviously done more work and more documentation on the Wheeler line than I have. I think the Grace Wheeler in my database was added early on in my genealogy pursuit before I was as careful as I am now to document everything possible. So it appears her marriage was not to Henry Brooks as I have it. Was Henry related to Thomas? I should probably clean things up if I can. Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you for contacting me.

Oh Wheelers and Brooks! yikes! makes me dizzy just thinking about it.
I have Grace Wheeler as well, which is kinda how I got into this whole match and merge mess on the Wheelers. I was trying to decipher the Henry vs. Thomas Brooks fiasco. One thing led to another.
Here's where I landed:
  • Grace (possibly Wheeler, but I have yet to find confirmation of her last name much less parentage) married Thomas Brooks of CONCORD, not Henry Brooks of WOBURN. (I had it backwards myself.)
  • Henry and Thomas *might* be related; might be brothers. Does not appear to be confirmed yet.
  • And then there's John Brooks over in Connecticut who may also be related.
Dig around each of those men, and you'll see the various notes I've compiled from a myriad of places-- mostly work done by others that I've just cut and paste in hopefully a sense-making manner. G'night! jillaine 23:14, 30 November 2008 (EST)
