Parents of Samuel Clark [29 January 2015]

Hello Fay, I got your message regarding the parentage of Samuel Clark. I do know that Morton's information was not perfect and has a few errors, so let me do some additional research over the next week and see if I can find any other records to help clear things up. If you have any other conclusive sources, feel free to add them to the pertinent Person pages so other researchers can see why you feel that his parentage is not as Morton has surmised...

Thanks and best regards,

Fay, I found the Revolutionary War Service Declaration of Samuel Clark on the "Southern Campaign Revolutionary Application" website, and you appear to be 100% correct in your summation that he clearly could not have been a son of Benjamin Clark of Lunenburg County. In fact, there are absolutely NO RECORDS in Chalkley's Vol. 1 thru Vol. 3 of a Benjamin Clark, likely indicating that Benjamin many have never set foot in Augusta County.

I have taken Samuel and re-attached him to the [likely] correct parents and added advisories to the Person Pages of both Samuel Clark and Benjamin Clark informing other researchers of Morton's error. Hope that helps straighten out at this his site; unfortunately there are many Ancestry Member submissions still showing the incorrect relationship....

Thanks and best regards,

Jim

Thank you, Jim. I appreciate all your hard work. Fay--Gmcflc 04:44, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
