Next step: Review your GEDCOM [18 March 2010]

You're not done yet!

WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors.

Now that you have uploaded MatthewPark03.18.10.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing.

Click here to review your GEDCOM

Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.

MatthewPark03.18.10 Gedcom [19 March 2010]

Hello, Welcome to the WeRelate community. I noticed that your ‎MatthewPark03.18.10 gedcom has been uploaded. The system is new and might be a little confusing at first. Do you need any help with the review process? If you were not aware of the review process, click on this link to go to review page: http://www.werelate.org/gedcom/index.php?gedcomId=4369. You can come and go as you have time.

WeRelate is an active community of genealogists staffed by volunteers. Our mission is help people to collaborate on common ancestors. The review process will connect you with other genealogists researching common ancestors. Your gedcom cannot be uploaded until you have checked the warnings and possible matches with common ancestors. The warnings will tell you if someone died before they married/were born, etc. You can correct the page in the lower window by clicking on the edit link. You must look at every warning and every suggested match. You need to read through the warnings and review the suggested family matches. For each family match, please mark it as a match or not a match.

Please be aware that on a public wiki such as this, we do not create pages for living people as all identifying information needs to be suppressed. Please be sure that Exclude is marked for all of the people and families that are still living.

Also, I noticed that you have a number of place pages that include home addresses, or locations such as hospitals and churches. WeRelate does not allow place pages for these types of locations. When you match these pages, please match them to the town under which they reside. Example: You would match North Aiken Baptist Church, Aiken, Aiken County, SC to Aiken, Aiken, South Carolina, United States. Note: We do allow place pages for Cemeteries.

Let me know if you need help getting started. You should be aware that Gedcoms left unreviewed/uploaded will be deleted after ten days.

Thank you, --Jennifer (JBS66) 07:21, 19 March 2010 (EDT)

Regarding your gedcom [26 March 2010]

Hello,

I don't know if you are aware that you must review your gedcom before the pages are uploaded. The system will analyze your gedcom and suggest matches with existing pages so you can connect with your cousins. It will also point out data issues, like when someone died before their child was born. Sometimes, there is nothing wrong with the data, like a child born before a wedding or an older man fathering a child. You don't have to change the data, just look at the warnings. You can choose to correct the mistakes in the lower window by clicking on edit, or make the corrections to the pages at your leisure. If you need help, please feel free to contact me. You uploaded your gedcom on 18 March 2010. You can process it at http://www.werelate.org/gedcom/index.php?gedcomId=4369.

I usually delete unprocessed gedcoms that have been left in the queue for more than 10 days. I will need to delete your gedcom if it is not processed by March 30. Please contact me in the next few days if you are working on it and need more time.

Thank you, Jennifer (WeRelate volunteer)--Jennifer (JBS66) 13:45, 26 March 2010 (EDT)

Recent merge of 2 William Parks and James Park [4 April 2010]

Hello, I am a volunteer here at WeRelate. I noticed that you merged two people who appear to be the same (William Park) along with another person (James Park) who was born 60 years later. Here is what this merge looked like: [1]. I unmerged them so that we can later merge just the two William Parks. I'm going to do a bit of work to get the pages back to their original state before the merge, and then I will perform the merge for just Person:William Park (15) and Person:William Park (22). I may have to undo a few of your most recent changes to make this happen properly. Let me know if you have any questions. --Jennifer (JBS66) 07:39, 4 April 2010 (EDT)

Sources on information [8 April 2010]

Hello, I am one of the Adminstrator's at WeRelate. I noticed you added what appears to be an obituary for George Foos to his WeRelate page. If possible, it would be helpful to also add the SOURCE of this information (i.e. - Publication, Date, etc). Adding sources to the information that you add strenghtens the page and is an important ingredient of good genealogical practices. You can consult the following link on the importance of sources: Help: Sources. Best regards, Jim:)--Delijim 12:33, 8 April 2010 (EDT)

Wade and Bushouse [30 April 2012]

I have a B. Orin Wade and Kate E. Bushouse married in 1923. Both are documented, and the latter is the daughter of a Bushouse family of whom I have personal knowledge. Is it possible that these could be your Arthur Wade and Ethel Bushouse. They have children listed in the 1930 census named Dale, Robert, and Eleanor. --Pkeegstra 07:46, 30 April 2012 (EDT)
