Talen Question [19 October 2013]

I noticed that you were updating some people somewhat closely connected to Hendrik Talen the other day. I have two friends who would be related if Jan Klaas Talen was a brother of Hendrik Talen, but I could not find a source. Jan Klaas's death record in Friesland doesn't list his parents. Is there any chance you perhaps might have inside information about this family? (P.S. Sorry, I don't speak Dutch. I should explain why on my user page.) --Pkeegstra 23:49, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

What I found is the following. According to the Trouwboek of Rouveen, Jan Claas (born in IJhorst) married Grietje Roelfs (born in Rouveen) on 17 April 1800, names of the parents were not noted [HCO-395-C page 28]. Jan was 49 years at the time of his death (1828). According to the Doopboek of IJhorst, Jan Talen is born on 4 July 1779, baptized on 10 July 1779, and is the son of Klaas Talen and Femmigje Geerts [RAD 164 page 24- http://www.webringreestdal.nl/archieven/ijhorst/doop%201771-1780.html].

His parents, Klaas Talen (or Klaes Tale) and Femmigje Geerts (Femmechijn Geerts) married on 9 July 1758 in Rouveen [HCO 394 page 96]. Both were from Rouveen, Klaas is the son of Tale Jans, Femmigje is the daughter of Geert Jans.

ADDITION: Klaas was baptized on 6 Nov 1729, being the son of Tale Jans and Geertje Jans. They married around 1720, for which period no Trouwboek is available.

Hope this helps :).--Dingeman 09:45, 19 October 2013 (UTC)

Hendrik Talen died in 1879 in Staphorst [1]; and was the son of Klaas Harms Talen and Beertje Hendriks. They married on 29 January 1786 in Staphorst [HCO 403 page 13], their parents are not noted but both are from Staphorst. According to the marriage certificate of their daughter Margje [Staphorst 1821 no. 6], Klaas Harms Talen died 9 May 1807 in Staphorst and Beertje Hendriks died 20 December 1794 in Staphorst. Her grandparents are also mentioned: Harm Roelofs Talen (died 14 April 1782 in Staphorst) & Jentje Klaas (died 11 April 1805 in Staphorst), and Hendrik Geugjes & Margje Jans.

Harm Roelofs Talen and Jentje Klaas married 25 January 1756 in Staphorst [HCO 402-2 page 239]. Harm was a son of Roelof Jans (who had already passed away), Jentje came from Rouveen.

I am not able to find his name in the Doopboek of Staphorst/Rouveen/IJhorst, but in the Doopboek of Staphorst the following two entries can be found: - 17-02-1726 - Jentjen - DV Roelof Jans Talen+ Albertjen; (RAO 397 bz 74) - 03-11-1728 - Geesjen - DV Roelof Jans Talen+ Albertjen; (RAO 397 bz 76)

The proclamation of the marriage of Roelof Jans T(h)alen and Albertje (Claas) took place on 1 March 1711 in Staphorst. Roelof Jans had been married before with Wijntje Herms (on 28 January 1703) and was from Staphorst, Albertje Claas was from Rouveen. She died on 21 August 1751 due to the 'rode loop' (dysentery).

Roelof Jans Thalen was baptized in Staphorst on 21 April 1672, son of Jan, jonge Thalen and Hendrikje Jacobs [RAO 397 bz 22]. They had married on 5 March 1665 in Staphorst [HCO 402-1 page 209], both being from Staphorst. Jan was the son of Jan Talen.

Jan Janse Talen must have been born before 1650, for which period no Doopboek is available. There are several children from Jan Talen in Rouveen around 1670.

It seems to be impossible to directly link Jan Claas Talen and Hendrik Talen, since the first line of generations is in Staphorst (though some of the wives are from Rouveen) and the second in Rouveen. Jan Talen is probably the common forefather.--Dingeman 11:24, 19 October 2013 (UTC)

Last comment: a Jan Talen was confirmed in 1660 in Rouveen. The children that are mentioned in the Doopboek (register of baptisms) are likely from him. Hence I don't think that the Jan Talen who was born in Staphorst before 1650, and got a child in Staphorst, moved over to Rouveen at a later stage.--Dingeman 11:35, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
