Image license [5 August 2008]

Hi, I am an admin for WeRelate. I will be reviewing image licensing from now on. I noticed that you had a question about your image.

Images more than 120 years old are public domain. I have changed the license to public domain. If you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to leave me a message.  :-)--sq 16:17, 5 August 2008 (EDT)

Image license [27 August 2008]

Hi, I am an admin for WeRelate and I will be taking care of image licensing. I noticed you had a question about your image. I don't know who took the photo and assume that it was not you. The copyright belongs to the person who took the photo or her studio. The "fair use" rules allow us to use a low resolution copy for non-commercial purposes. Most scanners produce images that are too large to be uploaded unto this site. So if you already reduced the size of the image in order to upload it, you automatically reduced the resolution (number of pixels in the image). If you did not reduce the image, please do so and re-upload it. If you have any questions or comments please leave me a message. Thank you. :-) --sq 22:26, 27 August 2008 (EDT)

Albertis Welsheimer and Emily Johnson are my grandparents. I am their son's daughter. Are you related to them as well? [9 March 2011]

--Danslittlewoman 00:51, 10 July 2009 (EDT)

I think there is a good possibility we are related. My Grandmother Ida Olive Tyler's father was Lewis Albertus Tyler, his Mother was Olive Welsheimmer, her parents were Daniel Welsheimmer and Catherine Taylor. There is a long history ont he Welsheimmer family. Olive W. was married to Nathan Tyler but their marriage ended in divorce.--Dareklet 23:40, 8 March 2011 (EST)

photo licence [22 December 2009]

Hi, I am a volunteer admin. I take care of scanned images. You had some questions about licenses on your photos. Please follow the following criteria for licensing your photos.

  1. If you took the photo - license it as "share and share alike, Creative Commons BY-SA
  2. If the photo was taken and given to others before 1923 - mark "published before 1923"
  3. If it is neither of these, make sure you reduced the size of the image before uploading. Then mark it -- "Low resolution copy of unique historical photograph."

Hope this helps.  :) --sq 18:16, 22 December 2009 (EST)

Image Licensing [30 March 2010]

Hello, I am a volunteer admin and it's my job to help people learn the system. You asked for help licensing your images. I can't license your images but I can give your guidance. There are numerous licensing options, but most images fall into one of these categories:

  • Original published in US before 1923
  • Low resolution copy of an historical photograph. (When you reduce the image before upload, the resolution is reduced.)
  • Snippet of historical document
  • Work of US government--Public domain
  • If you took the picture, select the CC-BY-SA
  • If you know the photographer, get written permission.

Hope this helps. Please be aware that images left in the "Help needed" category for longer than two weeks will be deleted. If you have any more question please leave me a message. :)--sq 20:42, 30 March 2010 (EDT)

Image Naming [7 October 2010]

Hello, I noticed that you've added the following images: Image:Mom and Dad 2.JPG and Image:Scan.jpg. You might want to re-load these images and use more unique names, since the names you've used will most likely be over-written by someone else, since they are both very common names.

Please keep in mind WeRelate's Image Naming Guidelines (included in the Frequently Asked Questions):

How do I title an image?
You may use any title you like. Please use a unique descriptive title. The title needs to include a dot jpeg or other image designation. However, keep in mind that if you choose a common title like Grandpa.jpeg. The next person who to use the same title will over write your image. Next time you are at grandpa's page, you may be looking at a stranger from a different era. :)

Thanks much,

Jim - Volunteer Administrator on WeRelate--Delijim 15:14, 7 October 2010 (EDT)

Engle Family [16 October 2010]

I have added a lot of burial records for the Engle family from Fulton and Kosciusko Counties in IN. to findagrave.com. There is a lot of info; exact birthdates, death dates, marriage info, obits, children, etc.

I'm related to Pierce Engle (my Maternal Great-Grandfather, son of George Engle and Sarah Creakbaum).

Here's link for George Engle:

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=30904055

He was the first one out to IN from Ross Co., Ohio. He had a son Jacob, who fathered Elmer (I've updated Elmer's info on this site, as well as his spouse). Elmer fathered Ellis Engle (you had as Living Engle, I changed it and added spouse info) and Estel Engle (I've updated him and spouse as well).

Let me know if you have any questions.

Information on living persons [3 January 2012]

Hi, I'm a volunteer admin at WeRelate. We have a policy about not posting information about living people, and recently we've been removing pages that are for living people. I just wanted to let you know that we've removed the pages that you have created for living people. I apologize for any inconvenience.--sq 14:04, 3 January 2012 (EST)

Daniel Mohn lineage [11 March 2012]

Hello.

My name is Christina (nee: Mohn) Koth. I am the great-great granddaughter of Daniel and Elfrieda Abigail Boyer Mohn. My great-grandfather, Jesse Merle Mohn, came to Allamakee County, Iowa, between 1900 and 1904. He married my great-grandmother, Lillian Irene Boardman. My grandfather, Thomas Hugh Mohn, married Genevieve Mary Kernan. This union produced 12 children, of which 11 are still living. My grandmother Genevieve just passed away a few weeks ago from alzheimers. My grandpa Tom passed away in 1978, from kidney cancer. If you are interested in this line, I can give you any information you may need. I have been researching my Mohn family geneology since 1994. Much of what you have posted here is also what I have found. I would be interested in corresponding and working together on this. Thank you and have a great day.
