Welcome

Welcome to WeRelate, your virtual genealogical community. We're glad you have joined us. At WeRelate you can easily create ancestor webpages, connect with cousins and other genealogists, and find new information.

Create Webpages

The first thing to do is launch Family Tree Explorer, then select File in the Family Tree Explorer menu and give your family tree a name. You can either upload your GEDCOM or create person and family pages one at a time. To upload your GEDCOM, select File in the Family Tree Explorer menu and then click on Import and choose the GEDCOM file to import. The system will create a editable web page for each person and family in your GEDCOM. To create a page manually, select Add in the Family Tree Explorer menu and click on Add new person; enter the given (first name) and surname (last name), select Add, then fill in the blanks and save.

The Family Tree Explorer is a Flash application and will need to use some space in your computer to cache the files. That's computer talk for "If you store some ancestor page information on your computer, you will be able to view more pages faster. Otherwise, the system has to fetch each page every time you edit or look at it. This caching is not permanent and only lasts as long as you are at WeRelate each time.

Connect with other genealogists

You should always sign in when you are editing or adding pages. Use the signature button to sign your work (the swiggle, second from the right, above the edit box). That way others with similar interests can find you. If you click on the blue user name on any page, you will go to that person's home page. You can leave a message on his/her Discussion page. The Discussion page button is in the light green second level menu bar above.

GEDCOM uploaded successfully

Your GEDCOM was uploaded successfully. Feel free to launch the family tree explorer and check it out. We were having some issues that caused your GEDCOM to not be uploaded initially; we noticed that probably because of the delay your GEDCOM was uploaded again. We imported the first GEDCOM but left the first one alone because they seemed to be the same. Thanks for using WeRelate! -Nathan 17:23, 28 March 2007 (MDT)

Sarah Moorman and David Dumas [4 July 2008]

Hi Dalton,

Several generations are missing from Sarah's ancestry. She was probably a daughter of Andrew Moorman who was baptised 4 Nov 1689, St. Peter's Parish, New Kent County, Virginia, and his wife Sarah (Sallie) Clark. Andrew was a son of Thomas Moorman and his wife, Elizabeth, grandson of Zachariah Moorman and Mary Ann Candler.

Hope this helps.

Mary

From your data: Zachariah Moorman was born 1619 in Isle of Wight England, and died AFT 1670 in Virginia.

59.

Mary Candler.

Children of Mary Candler and Zachariah Moorman are:

29. i. Sarah Moorman was born in Virginia, and died 1802 in Montgomery County, North Carolina. She married David Dumas 1 BEF 1754, son of Benjamin Dumas 1 and Frances Clark. He was born 1731 in Hanover, Virginia, and died 1803 in Montgomery County, North Carolina.--Mstewart 12:40, 4 July 2008 (EDT)

Nix family [23 April 2016]

greetings,

I have been reading about Jennings, your ancestor. He is the sister of my relative Margaret Nix.

Margaret Nix and Daniel Nix also named one of their daughters Margaret. That is my relative. I have many docs to support this.

My Margaret married Joel Chapman and they all moved to Georgia.

If you have any further info on my folks or their parents, I would love your input.

thanks so much,

Lorraine--Andrew13 14:55, 23 April 2016 (UTC)

I'm Joshua Paul Nix's son. [27 June 2016]

I believe you talked to him 10, maybe 11 years ago on this site. I was but 5 years old then, and the recent death of his father (Craig Nix) made me want to make another attempt in contacting you. You might know, Paul (my father) died September 16th, 2009. A while back I made an attempt to email you, and this is all me trying to find out more about my family, as I've come to take a certain bit of pride in my last name.

If you could leave me a message that would be deeply appreciated. Thank you, and I'll certainly be waiting eagerly.--Nixiam 22:29, 3 May 2016 (UTC)

Your Moore relatives [9 September 2020]

Hello! I came across your findings on Moore relatives in Tennessee. The family that settled in Roane County caught my attention because I am trying to find out what I can about William A Moore, one of the Irish immigrants who came to America in the late 1790's. He is a potential father for a William M Moore who is my 2nd G grandfather. You mention some legal papers you have for William A's family and I would be very interested in any records you have on him or his offspring. Congratulations on a very thoroughly put together list of descendants. Thank you and best wishes. Tom Walker--Tomdubya 23:58, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
