Ancestors of James Richey (husband of Mary Jane Brown) [10 January 2011]

Hi,

I came across your information on the wiki and I was curious if you know about the information below. It pertains to his ancestors. I put some notes at the end about where some of it came from. I'm actually still working or organizing the notes so I apologize for how poorly organized they may be and the info that is missing. They are also not quite as coherent but I'm working on correcting that.

Sincerely,

Ashley R.

Notes Notes on Robert Richey FROM (http://genforum.genealogy.com/richey/messages/1813.html): You may what to know that he was in Butler Co., Ohio and was one of the largest whiskey distillers of that time. He died in abt.1828, and some of land that he owned was sold in 1832. Maybe because a child of his was under age at the time of his death. I believe his wife- Charity then may have went to live with her family in Brown Co. after this land was sold. I also believe that you may find son Andrew in Butler Co. Ohio, on their farm land (known as the Richey Farm) in Oxford,Oxford Twp., Ohio. I am searching the land that he bought in 1814 which was deeded to James Caldwell in 1832. It maybe the oldest, still operating Tavern in Butler Co., Ohio. Just trying to find the facts on this. Anything you can add would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Judith thejcoriginalAaol.com

From Jim I have attached a write up on the family of George & Isabelle Adair Richey. Look it over and let me know of any comments, corrections, etc. I may have other data on this family.

On James & Mary Jane Brown Richey, I have a write up on them also, plus a very good contact. I will try to attach both write ups to this email, but sometimes there are too big and I may have to do it on separate emails. This James Richey was a son of William & Nancy Daughtery Richey.

McCall Richey is a descendant of this line and has a lot of data on them. I copied him on this note to you.

From: http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/o/v/e/Kathi-Overley/WEBSITE-0001/UHP-0562.html

Robert was apparently born about 1777 in Chester County, PA, emigrated with his brother, Andrew, to Pisgah Ridge about 1796, and died at Pisgah in June 1830. No record has been found that he were ever married before be married Charity Burgett. She was born in what is now West Virginia about 1777, and married about 1797 at Augusta or Maysville, KY. Robert bought his first land in Brown County, Ohio in 1830 just before his death. It was at Levanne on the west side of the road to Pisgah Ridge, right where the road starts going uphill. William and Nancy bought their first land from the Valentine Burgett estate in 1832, adjacent to what Robert had owned.

Robert was a tenant farmer for Henry Chapman, who was one of the largest original owners on Pisgah Ridge. Robert bought his own land just days before he died. This land adjoined the NW corner of Levanna.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Jim Richey

Hi Ashley,

Sorry for the delay in responding. I don't have any info on the ancestors of James Richey his wife, Mary Jane Brown, is sister to my direct ancestor. Are you related to one of their children if so we would be distant cousins. Most of the info I put on here came from databases at http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html. The databases were Ohio Deaths,1908-1953 which was indexed and also had death certificates images (I believe the images no longer appear),Ohio Marriages, 1800-1958 and Ohio Births and Christenings,1821-1962. The last 2 databases were just indexed no images. For awhile they also had a beta test site that was free to use but you had to register and I think that has since been incorporated into the main familysearch.org site. The few times I've used the main site since then I have found the searching very tedious. If you need the source for an specific Richey descendant let me know & I'll look up what I used. If you are related to Mary Brown Richey I can also provide info on her ancestors. You have probably already found this but here is a link to James Richey's obit if you haven't http://www.ohgenealogy.com/brownco/obitricheyjames.htm .

I look forward to hearing from you, Fayth--Bolan 00:15, 10 January 2011 (EST)

Tilden Gaddis [24 November 2014]

Hello,

I noticed you added the Tilden Gaddis page. I came across the name while researching the family of his wife, Alice Smith. Alice is descended from the Moore and Starr Quaker families, which I have been working on tracing the descendants.

Andrew Kolstee--AMK152 18:48, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi Andrew,

I'm sorry for the delay in responding-I moved recently and was offline. Alice Smith is a collateral ancestor of mine. Two of my Nash ancestors married daughters of James Canby Moore and Lucinda Hines. I may have some more info in my paper files-which are still packed up. As I unpack I will update any info.

Georgia Davison [11 January 2015]

Hi, I just discovered this page today while trying to find my grandmother's family information. I have a few letters in some family collection that I have kept over the years. I found one from Owen Davison and googled the name, thanks to this site I made some connections. I found Owen Davison was married to Marie and his sister was Minah, then it clicked, Uncle "Doc" and Aunt Marie. I have some small framed photos of them. I actually don't remember them. I did find it odd that Minah, Frank and Owen were listed by not their older sister, Georgia, my grandmother. So I added her. Since I'm new to this site I hope I've done it correctly. I really have no information on the Davisons, other than I remember Uncle Doc lived in Bethel Ohio and Uncle Frank lived in Delaware, Ohio although the information shows him as buried in Williamsburg. I'm from Williamsburg but live in Arizona.

Regards, Bill--Bill 00:46, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi Bill,

Thank you for adding Georgia Davison. I've been slowly adding information from old paper records and computer files. I believe I didn't add her at the time because I had not found any information past her baptism/birth record. I did update the template for her memorial so the it linked directly from her page. I also have a record for an older sister Alma Davison born 21 Dec 1873 in Batavia. Do you have any further info about her? I'm thinking perhaps she died as a child because she is not listed in the 1880 census with the family. We are distant cousins as I'm related through Rebecca Hulick's great-grandfather John Weaver. Thanks, Fayth--Bolan 18:52, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

Why did you remove dates for Barbara Lamphear Steward? [19 June 2021]

Hi

I don't understand why you removed the dates and sources that I added for Barbara Lamphear Steward. Was it because I didn't transcribe the data from the sources? If so, I'll do that. The birth record shows that Barbara Lamphear was born 12 Mar 1932 in Ohio, and the Cemetery and Funeral Home Record shows that Barbara Steward was born 12 Mar 1932 and died 11 Mar 2016. Do you have reason to believe that either record doesn't belong to her?--DataAnalyst 21:57, 19 June 2021 (UTC)
