g118.ged is being held for review [16 September 2007]

The pages from "g118.ged" have not yet been generated because they appear to match pages from a GEDCOM you have previously imported to WeRelate. Please be patient while we take a look at your GEDCOM. If it turns out that the people in g118.ged don't really overlap people you have imported previously, your pages will be generated right after the review, which should happen tomorrow (or Monday if tomorrow falls on a weekend).

If you have already imported a GEDCOM containing people in g118.ged, you have two options:

  1. Open the tree containing the information from the previous GEDCOM using Family Tree Explorer and delete the tree, then create a new tree and re-import this GEDCOM, or
  2. If the two GEDCOMs don't overlap that much, leave a message for Npowell. We'll go ahead with the import, after which you'll want to merge the overlapping people by hand.

Place:Loudoun, Scotland [1 November 2007]

Hi, We are redoing the hierarchy for place pages to make search more effective. Many people search for their common ancestors using just the country name. If the "located in" field is empty, the system assumes that the place is a nation. So, when someone searches for your pages in "Scotland," they won't show up because the system doesn't know the "Loudoun Kirkyard" or "Loudoun" is in Scotland. I would fix this except I don't know where they are. Are they subdivisions of Place:Loudoun, Scotland or is Place:Loudoun the same place? Could you let me know in the next few days? I need to take care of this soon. If I don't hear from you by Monday, I will assume that Place:Loudoun and Place:Loudoun, Scotland are the same and merge them. I will put "Loudoun Kirkyard" within "Loudoun, Scotland." Thanks for your help :)--sq 23:36, 1 November 2007 (EDT)

g4.ged appears to overlap a previously-imported GEDCOM [6 November 2007]

The pages from this GEDCOM have not yet been generated because they appear to match pages from a GEDCOM you have previously imported to WeRelate.

If you have already imported a GEDCOM containing people in this GEDCOM and you want to replace that tree with this GEDCOM, you need to delete that tree first so duplicates aren't created when you import this GEDCOM. Go to the Family Tree page, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click on the "delete" link next to that tree. Please be aware that any pages in that tree that are being watched by others won't get deleted. Once that tree is deleted you can create a new tree and re-upload this GEDCOM into it. (We're planning to make re-uploading GEDCOM files much simpler later this Fall.)

If you don't think you have already imported a GEDCOM containing people in this GEDCOM, or if the two GEDCOM's don't overlap that much, leave a message for Dallan or send an email to dallan@WeRelate.org and we'll go ahead with the import.

Overlapping gedcoms creating numerous duplicates [9 February 2009]

There are quite a few families and people that were duplicated due to overlapping gedcoms. For example, if you look at the Nisbet surname category, you'll see many of the families and people have a (1) and (2), but are the same. Maybe you can contact and administrator to help merge the overlaps.--Parsa 13:14, 9 February 2009 (EST)

Riccarton [20 March 2013]

Did you know there are two Riccartons in Scotland? There is the parish in Ayrshire, and also a village in what was the parish of Currie in Midlothian (now a part of the West Lothian Council Area). You may be sending other people astray by not including Ayrshire in your place reference.

Skipwiths [17 May 2018]

Doesn't look you're still active here, but for what it's worth: I've identified the "Fulwar Skipwith" whom you suggested might be related to THE Fulwar Skipwith who was important in the history of the West Florida Republic (which is why he's of interest to me). They're evidently connected a few generations farther back. --MikeTalk 12:58, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
