This is the ToDo list for software enhancements to WeRelate. They are listed in no particular order. You are welcome to comment on them by adding a comment to the discussion page.
Family Tree Explorer
- New Person, Spouse, Parents, Child buttons?
- One-click addition of an individual's ancestors and/or descendents
- Checkboxes to add anc/desc on add this page
- list all "red" pages needing creation
- list all linked pages not in your tree, and add-all action
- global search and replace
- generate a list of people in your tree as a personal research page
- control-click opens new tab or window?
- key to maximize FTE frame?
- export GEDCOM
- When you select Unrelated person from the Add menu and enter multiple given names, only the first given name appears on the person page.
- If you click on a link that takes you outside of WeRelate, the Family Tree Explorer may go away. Have all off-site links open in a new window when you're running Family Tree Explorer.
Person/Family pages
- put surname prefix in titles in GEDCOM upload?
- propagate baptism like birth/christening
- sort families by marriage date on person page
- larger edit boxes, better support for wiki markup, better handling of line-breaks in source texts and notes
- propagate marriage date from Family pages to Person page, and sort spouse families by marriage date so earlier marriages appear first.
- propagate titles of parents, spouses, and children from Family pages to Person page.
Image pages
- default image titles?
- rename images functionality?
User and article pages
- list categories below only; allow surname/places separated by /
Source and MySource pages
Place pages
- add cemeteries
- Auto-generated disambiguation pages for places?
- add preferred name and alt-names to contained places
- add abbrevs automatically in search (e.g., co, twp)
- add thumbnails of images that link to the place page
Name pages
- remove near-spellings from related names; add misspellings to search
Categories
- Auto-generate category pages
- Generate categories for all surnames
- Generate categories for places at county/district level and above only (not towns)
- Add sub-categories for contained places
- Add surname-in-place categories as sub-categories to surname and place category
Search
- search based upon data-fields (e.g., name, place), not just keyword
- show links to place, surname page, categories near top of search
Family Tree
- select namespaces in show tree view
Maps
- colors blue: 50%, 75%, others: 20%, 60%, 80%
- father's line has a red outline; mother's line has a green outline
- siblings - birth only
- simpler icons: circle only
- jump 1 vs multiple generations > >>

Match/merge
- Merge screen that lists both pages side-by-side to help someone choose what to put on the merged page
- Unmerge screen that lists the pages prior to merge and the current merged page to help someone choose what to leave on the to-be-unmerged page
- Agent to identify likely matches and edit pages with links to matching pages and reasons for+against match

- redo videos when the page look & feel has stabilized
