Bridget Kilcommons of Matawan died Monday of last week age 82 years. She was born in Ireland and came to this country when a girl. The past forty-six years she had spent with the family of the late William L. Terhune.

Her headstone is in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Keyport, Monmouth Co., NJ: Bridget Kilcommons, died October 27, 1919, aged 82 years. Faithful unto death.

This needs to be checked. In Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown, Monmouth County is a headstone for: William McGrail, d. Aug 25, 1917, aged 76 years, and his wife Mary Kilcomons, d. June 8, 1930, aged 90 years. If these are the same people, they would have been married in 1880 or 1881.

John P. Kilcommons of New York

John Patrick Kilcommons of Galway, 33-year-old grocer, of 427 W. 52nd St., was naturalized at the Supreme Court of New York County on 16 May 1900. He had arrived in NY on 1 May 1887. Witness was Denis Kilcommons of 135 W. 60th St.

He is in the 1920 Census on Amsterdam Ave. with wife Catherine and children William and Catherine.

John P. Kilcommons, Hostler for NYC Police Department

Laws of the State of New York: Passed at the Session of the Legislature, Volume 3 (1916)

Chap 620 An act authorizing the police commissioner of the city of New York to rehear the charges upon which John P. Kilcommons, formerly a hostler in the police department of the said city, was dismissed from said department in the year nineteen hundred and thirteen and to reinstate him in the position formerly held by him.

Became a law May 20, 1916, with the approval of the Governor. Passed, three-fifths being present.

Acccepted by the City.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

Section 1. The police commissioner of the city of New York is hereby authorized to rehear and retry the charges upon which John P. Kilcommons, formerly a hostler in the police department in said city, was dismissed from said position; and if the said commissioner shall determine that the dismissal of said John P. Kilcommons was illegal or unjust or that the punishment imposed was too severe, in view of the circumstances under which the act complained of was committed, the said commissioner shall have the power to reinstate the said John P. Kilcommons in the police department of the city of New York in the same grade from which he was dismissed, provided that said John P. Kilcommons shall waive in writing all claims against the city of New York for back pay.

[He had been dismissed under Section 1543-b of the City Charter, which deals with driving with a suspended license.]

He was living at 744 Ninth Ave. On 20 February 1913, he petitioned for naturalization. He was a ticket agent, residing at 227 East 80th St., and was born 1 January 1886 in Galway. He arrived from Liverpool., leaving on or about 20 August 1907, and arrived in New York on or about 30 August 1907. He had declared his intention on 21 February 1910. John J. Kilcommons, occupation illegible, of 136th East 44th St., and John P. Kilcommons, a hostler, of 454 W. 47th St., gave affidavits.
