Interested in Marcus Omar Trussel (22 Feb 1844-20 Nov 1920), his descendants, his siblings and their descendants, and his ancestry. Marcus was born in Muskingum county, Ohio. Between 1844 and 1846 his family had moved to Carroll county, Missouri. By 1860 the family was in Grundy county, Missouri. He served in Missouri 23rd Infantry (1861-1864) and in the 6th Infantry regiment of U.S. Veteran Volunteers (1865-1866). Married Eliza Jane Benner in Trenton, Grundy county, Missouri on 6 Sep 1866. They lived in Franklin township, Grundy county, Missouri until 1878 when they moved briefly to Cloud county, Kansas, returning to Grundy county in 1881. Marcus, along with several other relatives, participated in on of the Oklahoma land rushes in 1893, obtaining a land patent (no. 3024, Section 23, Range 1) in Rock township, Payne county, Oklahoma. I am interested in determining Marcus' ancestry. We know that his father was William A. Trussell (abt 1788-1850s). William was born in Virginia and probably married Catherine in Virginia about 1818. They moved to Pennsylvania about 1833/1834 and moved again to Muskingum county, Ohio somewhere between 1836 and 1839. Between 1844 and 1846 the family moved to Carroll county, Missouri 1844-1846. William purchased land in Grundy county, Missouri in 1852. He probably died and was buried in Grundy county, but we have no documentary evidence. |
