    LESTER, ANDREW, Gloucester, an early sett. freem. 1643, then call.
Lister, by w. Barbara had Daniel, b. 15 Apr. 1642; Andrew, 26 Dec.
1644; Mary, 26 Dec. 1647; and Ann, 24 Mar. 1651; rem. that yr. to
New London, where his w. d. 2 Feb. 1654. By sec. w. Ann he had
Timothy, b. 4 July 1662; Joseph, 15 June 1664; beside Benjamin,
whose date is not giv. He d. aft. 14 Oct. 1669, when the two elder s.
were propos. for freem. Ann m. 3 May 1670, Nathaniel Millet of
Gloucester.

    LETHERLAND or LITHERLAND, WILLIAM Boston, might rather be
insert. here than Lytherland, where Farmer first plac. the name. Still
hav. resolv. not to differ from his work without manifest reason, there it
may still be seen.

    LETHERMORE, JOHN, freem. of Mass. 6 May 1635, whose resid. is
uncert. perhaps at Watertown; but Bond names him not.

    LETTIS or LETTICE, THOMAS, Plymouth 1638, may be that passeng.
in the Elizabeth, 1635, from London, aged 23, in the custom-ho. rec.
call. Lettyne. His will, of 1678, pro. 25 Oct. 1681, names w. Ann, wh.
d. 3 July 1687, in 80th yr. He had Thomas, wh. d. 3 Nov. 1650, and
prob. no other s. Of his ds. Ann m. Samuel Jenney; Elizabeth m. 18 Oct.
1655, William Shurtleff; and on 18 Nov. 1669, Jacob Cook, and, third,
on 1 Jan. 1689, Hugh Cole; and Dorothy m. 12 Dec. 1665, Edward
Gray; and, next, Nathaniel Clarke. WALTER, at Newport, in Jan.
1649, was stab. by capt. George Wright, as in a letter of Roger Williams
is told, 3 Mass. Hist. Coll. IX. 280.

    LEVENS or LEAVENS, ANDREW, Hadley, s. of John, was on serv. in
Philip's war from Roxbury, but stopp. tho. we kn. not that he had ever
any fam.in H. 1678. JOHN, Roxbury, freem. 4 Mar. 1634, came, 1632,
with w. Elizabeth in the William and Francis, leav. London 9 Mar. Rev.
Thomas Weld being the attraction prob. of him and some other Roxbury
people in that sh. His w. d. aft. very long illness, says the ch. rec. or
was bur. 10 Oct. 1638; and he m. 5 July 1639, Rachel Wright, "a
godly maid," had John, b. 27 Apr. 1640; James, 16, bapt. 24 Apr.
1642; Peter, and Andrew, 11, bapt. 16 Sept. 1644, the ch. rec. adds
"twin ch. of John L. in the 63d yr. of his age, a double blessing"; but
Peter d. in Jan. foll.; beside Rachel, bapt. in Aug. 1646; and next yr.
15 Nov. he d. of palsy. JOHN, Roxbury, 6. of the preced. a carpent. m.
7 June 1665, Hannah Woods, had Hannah, b. 17 Oct. 1666, and his w. d.
a wk. aft. aged 28. I presume he rem. to Stratford, there m. 23 Nov. 1674
Elizabeth Preston, had Peter, 15 Nov. 1677; and James, 14 Oct. 1679, b. there, but
caus. the rec. to be made at R. whither he came back, and had John, 10. Dec. 1681;
Joseph, 15 Nov. 1683; Rachel, 10 or 15 Dec. 1685; and Benjamin, 15 Apr. 1692.
