aft. WILLIAM, Ipswich, freem. 17 May 1637, d. 1 Feb. 1659, leav. w.
Sarah, and eight ch. whose names are not seen. His wid. m. 10 Apr. 1661,
Thomas Hartshorn of Reading. Of this name, that oft. in early rec. had its
mid. letter b, or p, two had, in 1834, been gr. at Harv. and four at other N. E.
coll.

    LANCASTER or LANKASTER, HENRY, Dover 1634, testif. in 1682,
that he kn. Walford of Portsmouth 50 yrs. bef. It may be the same as
Langstaff
. JOSEPH, Salisbury, by w. Mary had Joseph, b. 25 Feb.
1666; Mary, 8 Sept. 1667; and Thomas, 15 Mar. 1669; rem. to Amesbury,
freem. 1690. WALTER, Fairfield 1654, had lds. perhaps never
occup. but rem. soon. WILLIAM, Providence, did not rem. in 1676.

    LANCLON, easi. mistak. for Langdon, wh. may be refer. to.

    LAND, EDWARD, Duxbury 1666.

    LANDDIER, CHARLES, Dover 1672. It seems an unus. name, but
may not be impossib.

    LANDER, JOHN, Portsmouth or Kittery 1639, a fisherman, d. bef.
1646. Belkn. I. 28. THOMAS, Lynn, came in the Abigail, from London,
1635, aged 22; rem. 1637 to Sandwich; there had John, b. 2 Jan.
1651. WILLIAM, Marshfield 1643, d. 1648. It seems to be oft. spell.
with a u in the first syl.

    LANDFEAR or LAMPHEAR, GEORGE, Westerly, R. I. 1669, had
Richard, Shadrach, John, Theodosius, Seth, and ds. of wh. one was w.
of Eber Crandall; Mary, w. of Peter Button; Sarah, wh. m. 21 Mar.
1708, James Covey; and Elizabeth wh. m. 12 Jan. 1710, James Pendleton;
and he d. 6 Oct. 1731, RICHARD, Westerly 1679, perhaps s. of the
preced. by w. Mary had Amie, b. 22 June 1715; Lucy, 9 July 1718;
Esther, 21 Feb. 1721; Zerviah, 12 Oct. 1724; and Jerusha, 25 Jan.
1727. SETH, Westerly, br. of the preced. by w. Sarah had Elizabeth b. 10
Aug. 1715; and Elisha. SHADRACH, Westerly, br. of the preced. m.
15 June 1696, Experience Reed, had Oliver, Ann, Experience, Prudence,
Mary, Solomon, John, and Hezekiah. THEODOSIUS, Westerly,
br. of the preced. m. 22 Jan. 1708, Rachel Covey, had Theodosius, b. 31
Jan. 1709; James, 22 Nov. 1710; Joshua, 23 Nov. 1712; Abigail, 27
Mar. 1715; Susanna, 14 Dec. 1716; Nathaniel, 22 Mar. 1718; Mary,
14 Dec 1721, Samuel, 23 Dec. 1723; Stephen, 5 Feb. 1726; Jabez,
25 Mar. 1731; and Joseph, 20 Sept. 1736.

    LANDON, JAMES, Boston, or Charlestown, memb. of the first Bapt.
ch. 1670. Mr.Wyman thinks this name was Lowden. JOSEPH, Bristol
1688, with no w. or ch.

    LANE, AMBROSE, Portsmouth 1648-50, then call. (as from its orig.
settlem. it had been), Strawberry bank, shipmaster, was, perhaps, br. of
Sampson, wh. mortga. to him that yr. all his prop. for £1,000. ANDREW,
