Northampton, m. 1688, Sarah Burt, had John, b. 1689, wh. with his mod. d.
soon. In 1691, he m. Elizabeth Rising, had John, again, 1692; Elizabeth 1695;
James, 1698; William, 1702; and Thomas, 1705. Both William and his
f. d. 1712. ROGER, Watertown, went home prob. m. 1637, and again.
came in the Confidence, from Southampton, 1638, aged 55, a husbandman
of Long Sutton, Hants, with Joan, Susan, Mary, and Rose, his ds. was
freem. 22 May 1639, selectman, 1648, and d. 3 Apr. 1654, aged 71.
His wid. Grace, wh. had been wid. of William and first of Thomas
Rogers, d. 3 June 1662, in her will naming gr.ch. Daniel Smith, and
John, Martha, Mary, Sarah, and Joseph Sherman. These last were part
of the ch. of capt. John Sherman, wh. had m. her d. Martha; and ano.
d. Elizabeth had m. Daniel Smith. Hereby we discov. that P. had been 1687,
with part of his fam. at W. for this d. Elizabeth is not nam. among passeng.
in the Confidence; nor is the w. Grace, wh. was left, no doubt, at W.
in her h.'s absence to gov. the fam. but this is made more cert. from
our kn. that Sherman's w. had her first ch. b. here, less than five mos.
aft. the arr. of that ship. SAMUEL, Salem, d. a. 1659, had not long bef.
m. Hannah, d. of William Dodge. His will of 10 Feb. in that yr.
made in anticipat. of a voyage to Barbadoes, and the inv. of 22 June
1660, by the wid. names s. John. Perhaps, then, Hannah was sec. w.
His wid. m. Thomas Woodbury. SAMUEL, Windsor, s. of the first John
of the same, b. prob. in Eng. m. Hannah, d. of Thomas Stanley, rem. to
Hadley 1659, had there, Samuel, b. 6 Apr. 1660, said to be the first b.
of that town; one b. and d. 26 Apr. 1662; Thomas, 17 Apr. 1663, wh.
d. 1668, as Stiles says; Hezekiah, 7 Jan. 1665; John, 12 Dec. 1666;
Hannah 1670; Mehitable, 15 Sept. 1673; Experience, 5 Aug. 1676;
Ichabod, 17 June 1678; and Nathaniel, 1680; but Stiles adds,
Thomas, again, 1683; Hannah m. 29 Mar. 1689, John Nash, and
d. within two mos. All the other eight ch. were liv. at his d. 6 Sept.
foll. and also at the time his wid. d. 18 Dec. 1708. Mehitable m.
Nathaniel Goodwin. He was freem. 1684, much engag. in trade, owned
part of the sh. Northern Adventure, and left good est. Of his seven s.
Experience, and Hezekiah, are bef. ment. Thomas, John, and perhaps
Nathaniel, sett. in Lebanon; Ichabod in Hatfield, and Samuel only, cont.
at Hadley. SAMUEL, Farmington, youngest s. of the first Thomas,
m. 18 Feb. 1686, Martha Freeman, perhaps d. of Stephen of Newark,
N.J. to join with him in ch. commun. and had Stephen, b. 4 bapt. 10 Apr.
1687; Hannah, 17 June 1688; Samuel, b. 7, bapt. 20 Sept. 1691; Sarah,
b. 15, bapt. 19 Nov. 1693; and Martha, 1, bapt. 5 July 1696; Ruth, b. 26
Jan. 1699; Mary, Sept. 1700; Joseph, 12 Dec. 1702; Lois, 18 Mar. 1705;
Stephen, again, 16 Jan. 1707; and Rachel, 3 or 30 Apr. 1710. He was a deac.

extensive trader with Eng. after judge, and sheriff of the Co. in wh. he was he
wealthiest man at his d. 29 July 1722. He m. 22 Feb. 1684, Joanna Cook, d.
of Aaron, had fourteen ch. but only seven outliv. him, four ds. out of eight,
