and she d. 20 Oct. 1708. EDWARD, Rowley, s. of the preced. freem.
1680, ord. 25 Oct. 1682, m. 7 Nov. 1683, Elizabeth d. of Rev. Samuel Phillips,
with wh. he was colleag. had twenty ch. of wh. the names and dates
of seventeen are kn. but one half d. bef. him, and some of the s. were
Samuel, H. C. 1716; Edward; Eliot; Stephen; David; and Phillips, of
wh. this last d. young. His w. d. 1 Oct. 1724 in her 60th yr. and he m.
1726, Elizabeth d. of William Whittingham, wid. of Hon. Samuel Appleton;
and d. 22 Aug. 1732. EPHRAIM, Dover, freem. 1685, unless there be
error, as I suspect, in the rec. EPHRAIM, Dorchester, s. of Edward the
first, freem. 1690, m. 29 May 1684, Catharine, d. of Henry Leadbetter
of the same, but Mary, b. 23 July 1685; Sarah, 22 Oct. 1686; Ruth, 2
Mar. 1689, prob. d. soon; Ephraim, 26 Mar. 1693; Ruth, again, 7 Apr.
1697; Jonathan, 19 Aug. 1699; and Susanna, 28 June 1703; and he
took, as sec. w. Judith, d. of Desire Clap. He d. 18 Oct. 1732, not so
old by one yr. as his gr.st. made him. GILES, Roxbury, came in the
Hopewell, capt. Bundock, from London 1635, aged 26, with many others
of those who sat down, there, prob. an Essex man, and perhaps br. of the
first Edward, was freem. 18 Apr. 1637, and in that mo. mo. Elizabeth Dowell,
had Elizabeth b. 3 Feb. 1640, d. in few days; Samuel, 7 Nov. 1641; Elizabeth
again, 4, bapt. 9 Feb. 1645; Sarah, bapt. 16 July 1648; and possib.
others, but not ment. in town or ch. rec. as indeed is not in the town rec.
this last, bec. he rem. to Dorchester, where the rec. were destroy. by fire.
Yet he was deac. at R. and d. 28 Jan. 1689, aged 78. Sarah m. 10 Apr.
1678, Elisha Foster, and next, 26 Mar. 1685, Ebenezer Wiswall, and d.
11 June 1714. Elizabeth m. 15 Feb. 1667, Hopestill Foster, and next Edmund
Brown. JOHN, Dorchester, freem. 1680. Prob. he was eldest s.
of Edward, may have m. Bathsheba, d. of Thomas Tileston, and liv. in
Roxbury, there by sec. w. Hannah, had Edward, b. 26 June 1685; Joseph,
24 Feb. 1687; and Benjamin, 25 Oct. 1688. SAMUEL, Roxbury,
s. of Giles, m. 31 Mar. 1677, Prudence Lincoln, had no issue, was freem.
1690, d. 12 Apr. 1697. SAMUEL, Dorchester, youngest s. of Edward
the first, was freem. 1690, and d. 24 Nov. 1721; by w. Mary, d. of Elder
Thomas Wiswall
