and Susanna Dawes, and his only s. John is charged to bring up one of
his s. unto learning, that he may be fit for the min. wh. was, he says, the
employm. of my predecess. to 3d if not 4th generat. The gr.s. Edward,
H. C. 1685, seems not to have obeyed the will of his ancest. tho. he liv.
to 1732; but perhaps the fourth generat. was more regardful, at least
Jonathan, H. C. 1723, was a min. JOHN, Searborough, had John,
James, Sarah, and Mary, who were all charg. with neglect of public
worship; and Sarah's defence subject. her to stripes. JOHN, Braintree,
s. of the first John, m. 26 Apr. 1653, Elizabeth Shove, prob. sis. of Rev.
George, who d. 18 Aug. 1711, in 81st yr. had Elizabeth b. 5 Mar. or 1 July
(as the first numeral is count. for mo. or for day) by differ. read. 1654;
Sarah, 9 June 1656, John, 13 Apr. 1660; Jonathan, 9 Sept. 1662; Edward,
29 June 1665, H. C. 1685; Joanna or Susanna, 12 Mar. 1668, d.
next yr.; Mary, 1 Apr. 1670; Nathaniel, 22 Apr. 1672; and Susanna, 23
Sept. 1676. His s. John and Nathaniel liv. at B. and both had fams. There
was a John Mills, hav. fam. at Dedham 1676, perhaps br. of Benjamin.
JOHN, of Boston, whose will of 22 Oct. 1651 is abstr. in Geneal. Reg.
lV. 28, tho. his inv. shows a good amount of prop. was prob. only a
transient trader; at least, he names no w. or ch. but aft. a few trifling
gifts, directs the bulk of the est. to go to his friends in the Canaries.
JOHN, Simsbury, s. of Simon the sec. by w. Sarah had John, b. a. 1690;
Joseph, and Benjamin, a 1694; and Sarah, a. 1696; and he d. 11 Mar.
1698. JOSEPH, Kittery, call. a planter. PETER, Windsor, in a
tradit. of very light esteem, prob. a modern excercise of it, said to have
come from Holland, a tailor, with the name of Van Molyn (turn. into
Eng. Mills), when relations betw. the two nations had long been hostile,
strange. said to have been b. so late as 1666, m. bef. 1672, Dorcas, d. of
Edward Messenger, wh. d. 18 May, 1688, had Peter, and prob. other ch.
perhaps Samuel, certain. Ebenezer, wh. d. 8 Feb. 1687; Return, d. 12
July 1689; and Eleazer, d. 1698, all prob. young, but date of b. of
neither is seen, and m. 10 Dec. 1691, a sec. w. Jane Warren, or
Fannin, Hartford, as ano. statem. is; and he d. 12 Apr. 1702.
Peter, Windsor, s. of the preced. m. 21 July 1692, Joan Porter, had
Pelathia, b. 27 Apr. 1693, wh. was a lawyer; Gideon, 3 Feb. 1695, d.
soon; Jedeaiah, 23 May 1697, Y. C. 1722; Peter, 22 Apr. 1700, d. soon,
and Peter, again, 12 Apr. 1701; Ann, 1703; John, 1706; David, 1709;
Ebenezer, 1712; and Gideon, again, 15 Aug. 1715, Y. C. 1737. But
Stiles omits, 704, the two last, as well as Ann, and varies in John and
David. RICHARD, Stratford, and aft. 1653, at Stamford, rem. 1663 to
West Chester. ROBERT, Kittery, perhaps br. of Joseph, d. 1647, leav.
w. Dorothy, wh. m. John Harker of York, and four ch. SAMUEL,
