Elisha, and other ch. whose names are not heard, rem. bef. 1664 to
look after lds. of Hutchinson, to the Narraganset, when the jurisdict. of
Conn. appoint. him and others to be magistr. there, and d. early in 1707.
His w. Susanna and s. William had admin. JOHN, Eastham, s. prob. of
Daniel, m. says Hamblen (in Geneal. Reg. VI. 44), 12, but Col. Rec.
has 10, Dec. 1666, Ruth Snow, perhaps d. of Nicholas, had Ruth, b. 11
Mar. 1668; John, 6 Mar. 1670; Hepzibah, June 1672; Hannah, 27
Mar. 1675; Joseph, 11 June 1677; Mary, 22 Oct. 1679; and Sarah, 10
June 1682. His w. d. 27 Jan. 1717; and he d. 6 Jan. 1725. JOHN,
Hartford, had Sarah, bapt. 7 Feb. 1647; and Mary, b. a. 27 June 1654,
was constable 1657, and adm. freem. the same yr. d. 1685, in his will of 4
Aug. 1683 names ch. John, of Farmington, Samuel, and Nathaniel, of
Hartford, Job, in Eng. Ann, w. of Andrew Benton, and Lydia, w. of
John Wilson. JOHN, Wells 1653, perhaps s. of Thomas, d. 1661, or
his inv. is produc. of 20 Apr. of that yr. JOHN, Boston, m. 10 Nov.
1659, Susanna, d. of Nicholas Upshur; but this rec. is more prob. of
Joseph Cox, yet John and Susanna Cole by rec. had John, b. 22 Jan.
1661. JOHN, Hadley 1666, freem. that yr. is the same as Cowles. He
was call. farmer, to disting. him from the other John, the carpenter,
when both liv. at Hartford; and the object of change in surname was
to prevent confus. but it has increas. the evil. As well as the carpenter
John, this farmer had ch. John, Samuel, and perhaps others. JOHN,
Salem, m. 28 May 1667, Mary Knight, had John, b. 18 Nov. foll.;
Thomas, Nov. 1669, d. soon; Mary, 1 Sept. 1671; and Hannah, 12 Dec.
1674. JOHN, Duxbury, s. of Job, m. 21 Nov. 1667, Elizabeth Rider; but this man
is very indistinct. seen in Winsor, 247. JOHN, Swanzey 1669. JOHN,
Farmington, s. of John, the Hartford carpenter, may be the man, wh. by
w. Rachel had John, aged 24; Rachel, perhaps wid. of Joseph Smith,
21; Samuel, 13; and Nathaniel, 11, when his will of Sept. 1689, and
his inv. of Nov. foll. were brot. in. But no slight uncertain. attends
his inquiry. Ano. JOHN of Farmington, perhaps s. of the Cowles
farmer, had Dorothy, bapt. 3 July 1681; and Lydia, 22 Mar. 1685.
Under Cowles the cloud may be scattered or increas. JOHN, Gloucester,
by w. Mehitable had Daniel, b. 14 May 1669. JOHN, Pemaquid 1674.
JOHN, Groton, had a d. perhaps Hepzibah, b. 20 Feb. 1672. JOHN,
Boston, m. Mary, d. of the brave John Gallop, k. in the decis. battle of
Philip's war, had Samuel, b. 16, bapt. 21 Sept. 1684; Thomas, 23, bapt.
25 Apr. 1686; Mary, 9 May 1688, bapt. 9 Mar. 1690. JOSEPH,
York 1680, spell. with double o and final e. MATTHEW, Northampton
