perhaps no other ch. Perhaps he was of a very anc. fam. or I have
seen his geneal. trac. back to 1268, bef. the first king Edward.

    CHUZ, WILLIAM, Marblehead, is the form, 1664, of spell. one,
perhaps of Fr. orig. but conject. may go wild in scrutiny of exactn.

    CLAGHORN, or, as the Col. rec. spells CLEAGUEHORNE, JAMES, Barnstable,
an early sett. m. 6 Jan. 1654, Abigail Lombard, prob. d. of
Thomas, but may have been his gr.d. had James, b. 29 of the same mo.
as the rec. tells; Mary, 28 Oct. 1655; Elizabeth Apr. 1658; Sarah, 3 Jan.
1660; Robert, 27 Oct. 1661; and Shubael. Mary m. 28 Mar. 1682,
Joseph Davis of B. JAMES, Barnstable, s. of the preced. had Thomas,
bapt. 17 June 1694. ROBERT, Barnstable, s. of the first James, m. 6
Nov. 1701, Bethia Lothrop, but whose d. she was is not kn. had Abia, b.
13 Aug. 1702; Joseph, 25 Aug. 1704; Nathaniel, 10 Nov. 1707, and
Samuel, 23 June 1711. SHUBAEL, or SHOBAL, br. of the preced. by w.
Jane had James, b. Aug. 1689; Thankful, 30 Jan. bapt. 29 Mar. 1701,
in right of his w. and d. at 6 yrs.; Thomas, 20 Mar. 1693; Shobal, 20
Sept. 1696; Robert, 18 July, bapt. 13 Aug. 1699; Benjamin, 14 June,
bapt. 26 July 1701; Mary, 1707; Jane, 1709; and Ebenezer, 30 July
1712.

    CLANFIELD, PETER, Dover 1663.

    CLAP, AMBROSE, Dorchester, br. of Nicholas, came, prob. in 1636, if
he ever came, that is uncert. for no more is ever heard of him, exc. that
he was liv. in Eng. 1655. DESIRE, Dorchester, s. of capt. Roger, freem.
1669, m. Sarah Pond, perhaps d. of Robert the sec. but the Rev. Mr.
Danforth had writ. long after, on the paper that ment. bapt. of Sarah, 6
Feb. 1642, that she m. Ezra C. thus mistak. her for her sis. He had William,
b. 9 Oct. 1680, d. young; Desire, 6 Mar. 1682, d. young; Experience,
30 Nov. 1683; Sarah, 25 Mar. 1686; Preserved, a d. 8 Aug.
1688; Desire, again, and William, again, tw. 13 Aug. 1694, of wh.
Desire d. in few days, but William liv. 49 yrs. was m. and d. without ch.
closing the male line of capt. Roger in this branch, beside other tw. Roger,
and Daniel, 24 May 1697, wh. both d. soon; and Judith, whose date of
b. is not kn. wh. m. Ephraim Payson, prob. as his sec. w. but the date of
m. is also unkn. His w. d. 4 Jan. 1716, aged 63; and he m. 27 Dec.
foll. wid. Deborah Smith of Boston, and d. Dec. 1717. EBENEZER,
Dorchester, s. of Nicholas, freem. 1669, one of the found. of the ch. in
Milton 1678. Of his first w. Elizabeth we kn. not the surname, but she d.
20 Dec. 1701, aged 57; and for the sec. he m. 11 Nov. 1702, Elizabeth
Dickerman, and by neither had any ch. He d. 31 July 1712, and his
wid. m. Edward Dorr of Roxbury. EDWARD, Dorchester, br. of capt.
