1639, says Deane. JOHN, Barnstable 1640-9, may have been br. of the
preced. WILLIAM, perhaps a br. of the preced. or even the f. had been
freem. of Mass. 2 Nov. 1637, tho. his place of resid. is not found, but
soon after he rem. to Sandwich, and this makes it prob. that he was first
of Lynn; at S. he m. in Nov. 1639, a sis. of the w. of Rev. Marmaduke
Matthews of Yarmouth, may have sett. at Barnstable, where long
the name prevail. and spread thence in the last century, to Gorham, Me.

    CASEY, JOHN, Boston, serv. to Thomas Gardner of Roxbury, or
rather of Muddy riv. in B. was a soldier of Oliver's comp. wound. in
the gr. battle of Philip's war.

    CASH, WILLIAM, Salem, mariner, m. Oct. 1667, Elizabeth Lambert, d.
perhaps of Richard, had William, b. 23 Feb. 1669; John, 10 July 1671, d.
in few days; John, again, and Elizabeth tw. 10 July 1672, of wh. John d. at
2 yrs.; Mary, and Ann, tw. 29 Apr. 1675; Esther, 9 Mar. 1679; Elizabeth
wh. was bapt. adult, Dec. 1693, and m. 7 Mar. 1697, William Tapley;
and Mary, wh. m. 28 May 1697, John Meacham. WILLIAM, Salem, s.
of the preced. had William, b. 13 Feb. 1694; Elizabeth 19 July 1696; John,
7 Sept. 1699; Sarah, 5 Aug. 1702; and Ruth, 23 Mar. 1706.

    CASKIN, WILLIAM, Concord, had Sarah, b. 1642; and perhaps Phebe.

    CASMAN, ROGER, Newbury, came in the Confidence 1638, aged 15,
serv. to John Saunders.

    CASMORE or CHASMORE, RICHARD, Patuxet 1643, tak. by the marshal
of Mass. on a precept in 1657, raising trouble betw. the Cols. of
Mass. and R. I. See Geneal. Reg,. VIII. 362.

    CASS, JAMES, Westerly 1669. JOHN, Hampton 1644, m. Martha, d.
of Thomas Philbrick, had John; Samuel, b. 13 July 1659; Joseph;
Martha; Jonathan; Ebenezer; Abigail; Mercy; and Mary; of wh.
Martha m. John Redman; and he d. sudden. 7 Apr. 1675. His will
was of May 1674. A descend. was maj. Jonathan, wh. d. 14 Aug.
1830, f. of the Hon. Lewis, disting. in our modern polit. hist. JOHN,
Windsor; rem. 1670, to Simsbury. JOHN, Hampton, s. of the first John,
m. 10 Dec. 1676, Mary, prob. d. of Maurice Hobbs, had John, b. 21
Aug. 1680; and Mary, 26 Feb. 1687, perhaps others. His w. d. 23
July 1692; and for sec. w. he took Elizabeth wid. of James Chase, wh. had
former name Green, perhaps d. of Henry. JOSEPH, Hampton, br.
of the preced. had Joseph, wh. d. 22 Jan. 1687; and Mary, b. 26 Feb.
foll. SAMUEL, Hampton 1678, br. of the preced. m. 7 Dec. 1681, Mary
