Apr. 1652, Owen Morgan, unless one or both were wid. of other s. wh.
had d. bef. the testat. He names gr.ch. Alexander, and his s. Alexander;
gr. gr.ch. John, and Mary Maltby; gr.ch. Samuel B.; gr.ch.
Sarah, wh. bec. w. of Samuel Fitch, s. of his own w.; gr.ch. Hannah
Harriman, and her three ch.; and neph. Thomas Oviatt. ALEXANDER,
Milford, eldest s. of Richard, m. Sybil, d. of Rev. John Whiting of Hartford,
had Ann, b. 8 Sept. 1674; Alexander, 15 June 1677, d. soon;
John, 12 July 1680; Alexander, again, 24 Nov. 1683; Ebenezer, 2
Feb. 1690; and Augustine, 25 Apr. 1694; and d. 1701. His wid. m.
1705 Hugh Gray of Huntingdon, L. I. it is said, but after his d. was liv.
at Milford in 1711. This name sometimes ends with t, and in Mather's
list of the Conn. magistr. has a final s, but the barbarism of the London
printer is prob. charged. with it. Often in early rec. here it is Bryer.
JOHN, Taunton 1637, d. 28 Apr. 1638, as two of his friends said, prov.
his nuncup. will, giv. all his prop. to s. John, wh. was perhaps not then
in the country, for he desir. John Gilbert to have charge of the prop. for
him. Elizabeth Poole, the found. of the sett. in that yr. preced. and Jane,
prob. her younger sis. or niece, hav. aid in mak. the inv. (of wh. the sum
was £43.) I infer that he had come in her comp. JOHN, Taunton 1639,
s. prob. of the preced. one of the first purch. and long an inhab. RICHARD,
Milford, s. of first Alexander, b. in Eng.by w. Mary had Alexander
bef. ment. b. 1651; Mary, and Hannah, tw. 1654; Samuel, bapt. 1659;
John, 1662, d. young,; Abigail, 1664, d. unm. 1698; Richard, 1666;
Frances, 1668; and Sarah, 1670. He m. 1678, Elizabeth wid. of Richard
Hollingworth, d. of Michael Powell of Boston, wh. d. 1698, had Elizabeth b.
1679; and Joseph, 1684. He had large est. being, as had been his f.
the richest man in town. It was partly in Eng. on L. I. at New Haven,
Elizabethtown, N. J. Providence, and Milford. his wid. m. John Durand,
and, fourth h. a Treat, and d. 1706. Mary m. John Maltby of New
Haven, and, next, a Howell of L. I.; Hannah, m. Rev. John Harriman
of New Haven; Frances m. Joseph Treat of Milford; Sarah m. Samuel
Fitch, wh. d. early, leav. only ch. Sarah ; and she m. next, a. 1696,
Mungo Nisbett, and d. in two yrs. SAMUEL, Milford, s. of the preced.
m. 25 Dec. 1683, Martha, d. of Rev. John Whiting, had Mary, b. 1685;
Martha, 1689 ; Susanna, 1691; Abigail, 1693; Sybil, 9 June 1695;
and Jerusha, 4 July 1697; and d. 1698, leav. wid. Martha. THADDEUS,
Lynn 1675.
