    BASTARD, JOSEPH, Fairfield, m. 1685, Hannah, wid. of Esbon
Wakeman, was of Bristol, Feb. 1689, hav. one ch. and d. 1697, leav.
good est. If research should show, that he came from Boston, it might
be presum. that he was s. of Joseph Barstow.

    BASTAR, JOSEPH, Cambridge, a tailor, had w. Mary, and d. Mary,
b. 13 May 1643; rem. to Boston 1647, had Joseph, 25 or 29 Sept. of
that yr.; Benjamin, 4 Apr. 1652; Susanna, 1 Sept. 1654; and John,
25 Mar. 1657; beside Ann, 26 July 1660.

    BATEMAN, EDWARD, Maine, was one of the purch. from the Ind.
Sachem, Robin Hood, of the region a. Woolwich, 1654. Drake's Book
of the Ind. III. 97. ELEAZER, Woburn, m. 2 Nov. 1686, Elizabeth d. of Joseph
Wright, had Elizabeth b. 11 July 1688; Mary, 16 June 1696; Joseph,
7 Sept. 1699; Martha, 16 Feb. 1702; Thomas, 20 May 1704; and Ruth,
25 July 1707. JOHN, Boston, by w. Hannah had John, b. Dec. 1644;
Hannah, 10 Mar. 1646; Elizabeth 30 Sept. 1647; all bapt. 14 May 1648;
Sarah, bapt. 7 Oct. 1649, tho. town rec. makes her b. 6 May 1651; Rachel,
b. 28 May, bapt. 1 June 1651; Mary, 16, bapt. 23 Jan. 1653, d.
young; William, 8, bapt. 11 Mar. 1655; Joseph, b. 28 Aug. 1658; and
Mary again, bapt. 9 Sept. 1660. Perhaps he rem. to Woburn, for there
Hannah m. 12 June 1667, Zechariah Green[3]; and Sarah m. 3 July 1671,
John Green
[1], both of W. JOHN, Woburn, s. perhaps of the preced.[2] m. 30
June 1680, Abigail Richardson, prob. d. of Theophilus, had Abigail, b.
18 Oct. 1682, d. soon; Abigail, again, 1 Jan. 1685; John, 13 Aug. 1687;
William, 29 Sept. 1690, d. young; William, again, 3 May 1693; and
Peter, 3 Nov. 16953. Perhaps he rem. JOSEPH, Boston, s. of John of
the same
, was of Turner's comp. in Philip's war, 1676. NATHANIEL,
Watertown 1640, is not ment. by Bond. THOMAS,Concord, freem. 18
May 1642, d. 6 Feb. 1669, aged 51, leav. by Martha, s. Thomas,
Peter, wh. d. at Woburn 13 Feb. 1676, John, and Ebenezer; beside ds.
Martha, Elizabeth wh. was b. 6 Mar. 1660, and Sarah. eight days bef. he d.
all these are nam. in his will. WILLIAM, Charlestown 1638, had long
bef. been in the Col. as he was adm. freem. 18 May 1631, so that he prob.
came in the fleet with Winthrop perhaps rem. to Chelmsford, tho. as two
of the name were in Mass. it is uncert. for WILLIAM of Concord, br. of
Thomas, was prob. the freem. of 2 June 1641 (since his name in the list is
next to that of William Hunt of C.), yet he rem. to Fairfield 1650, or earlier
there d. 1658, in his will of 24 Mar. 1656, giv. L5 to gr.ch. Joseph Middlebrook,
and one half of his est. to s. Thomas, "now of Concord," the
other half to s.-in-law Henry Lyon.

    BATES, BENJAMIN, Hingham, youngest s. of Clement that he brot. from
Eng. was freem. 1672, and d. of smallpox 28 Nov. 1678. He was a lieut.
