Commentary

The following data is from Book 1 of the Russell County Court Order Records. Only records which contain the surname "Huston" are included. There are 62 such records. Some records show only a last name, though it may be possible to identify the Huston involved by looking at other records in context. The majority of records explicitly refer to "William Huston", believed to be Person:William Huston (21) who settled at Houston's Fort on Moccasin Creek. Of the remaining records, two are for Christopher Huston, and one is for Wilson Huston. Christopher is probably the same Christopher Huston who settled near William on Moccasin Creek. The only entries for him refer to records in which he grants a power of attourney to John Tate, apparently pursuant to a land sale to Nathan Hobbs. This probably indicates that Christopher has left the area. At this time nothing is known concerning Wilson Huston.

Note that no entries were found in the Robinson Transcription which used the spelling of "Houston"; all entries used the spelling "Huston".
